Had lunch at Zum Wildschutz with my spouse and two children during a short stop in Garmisch and we all really enjoyed the excellent food in this unique restaurant. The restaurant is a little bit off the main pedestrian street, on the next street over. It has a wonderful interior setting with dark wood and plenty of unique decorations from... More

Once in a while, my family and I visit local restaurants outside Munich to enjoy authentic food from Bayern but the best 'Schweinebraten' I've ever eaten has been from here! My husband and I just stumbled across this place while roaming around the village of Garmisch, decided to stop by and got lucky enough to secure a table for us.... More

My German husband always looks forward to a trip from our home in the U.S. back to Germany. When we are in Bavaria he wants the 'pig knuckle'. It didn't disappoint at this place! The restaurant accommodated my vegetarianism and kids tastes. The kids weiner schnitzel and kartofulpuffer (potato pancake) were very good.

This was one of our best meals in Germany. The only downside was it was very crowded and we were given a table in a corner--and during a heatwave in Germany, we were sweltering with no window nearby. Luckily, when we left the restaurant, the mountain air had cooled and was about 20 degrees cooler than inside! Also, no credit... More

'Zum Wildschuetz' is one of the better restaurants in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It offers exquisite cuisine at affordable prices and the atmosphere of the restaurant is typically Bavarian oozing lots of 'Gemuetlichkei'. The location is convenient just off the pedestrian area of downtown Garmisch. .

It is better to reserve in advance but the hostess was kind enough to arrange a table for us. Although we did not visit in the weekend , it was full. We were seated , soon later our order was taken , the food took a while to come but rest assured it is worth it Although we had to... More

8 of us had a great dinner here. It was one of the best meals ever. Everything was delicious, the beer was really good. Reasonable prices and great service. The potato soup was especially great. Make a reservation and cash only. Can't wait to go back

A group of 6 of us turned up and were made to feel really welcome. Our drink order was taken straight away and when the excellent beer arrived the days specials were explained. Most of us had the special a Venison Goulash, which was fantastic. I have eaten here before and would recommend to anyone looking for great Bavarian food.

Outside or inside the experience was charming, hearty and flavorful. Be prepared to spend at least an hour dining but it is well worth it. Highly recommend the Goulash, the pork Schnitzel and the hashbrown/mushroom appetizer/meal. Really can't go wrong here. OBTW, they have English menus if your German is a little rusty or non existent. Cash only so hit... More

We ate here twice during our 4 days in Garmisch because the first dinner was so good. The first night we were seated with a family of four from California and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and never let us wanting for anything. The food was delicious and beer was very good. The place was packed... More
