Loved the schnitzel, soup, and salad dressing. Great beer options. Fun outside area. Would highly recommend.

We received a recommendation to eat here and we were very happy with our visit! Great place for family! The service was very friendly. We loved the food - authentic German food served fresh, hot and in plentiful portions! Their salad is incredible with a variety of items on one delicious dish. The schnitzel was great - piping hot and... More
If you're looking for an authentic German experience, look no further. Hearty meals, several German beers on tap and definitely try the game stew with dumplings. Simply delucious. Service was outstanding and if I ever make it back to Heidelberg, I'll head to Essighaus again!
We were very impressed with the food, drink and service. All were wonderful. There was soup and salad along with all of the main meals and all were great. We ate in the beer garden but the restaurant would be a nice place to eat on a rainy day. Lots of locals eat here. They even allowed us to change... More
This restaurant is a solid three. Hits average on a lot of marks. The food also is ... Allright. I wouldn't recommend that you go out of your way to eat here BUT, if you're a local it's not a bad place to eat. Prices are okay. Service is allright. It's not spectacular. But not bad either.
We were just about to give up looking for somewhere to eat in this part of town when we stumbled upon this place. Nice atmospheric "stube" at the front and a small beer garden at the rear - once we sat down we felt a world away from the tourist hordes along the main street! Good solid German food plus... More
This restaurant/pub was recommended by a local and we had tasty and good German cuisine. Yes the schnitzel (again) and beer (again, but wheat beer this time). The ambiance was good on the rainy day. 2 mains, 3 beers was under €30. It's near the university which also probably accounts for the good food and prices! On Tuesday's hey have... More
This is a good traditional German restaurant. Good food, reasonable prices, it is popular among locals, no many tourists. Recommend if you wish to have traditional German food in an authentic atmosphere.
Good food, big portions, cheap price. In summer the beer garden is open. Service is fast, but waiters are not very friendly
We had been to a couple of café's as we were walking toward's the old town and we could'nt resist going into this great looking olde world tavern. Entering the tavern and the interior is cool with great white wall's decorated with superb wooden carving's and great painting's with a charming serving bar ,superb seating and table's ,it really is...
