Nice little cafe, with good choice of deserts at the counter. Just around the counter is the main cafe, which serves THE Black Forest Gateau. Very rich in alcohol but beautiful. Friendly staff and good prices.

The best black forest cake you could ever taste. But very rude staff, unhygenic, with a "we don't care" attitude. Left with the feeling that even if it the best cake, I am not coming back

It is a small cafe style locale. We had a small lunch and ate the famous Black Forest Gateau. The lunch part was not very elaborate but the showstopper was the cake (which was why we went there in the first place). We went back...More

I could only post such a harsh review since it was utterly terrible. Having read quite a few reviews we were all so excited to try their cake but what a disappointment it was. If this really was the original recipe (as they so call...More

Excellent traditional German cuisine with full selection of Bier and vino. Service was top notch at a reasonable price with beautiful patio view. And the homemade Black Forest cake...well to die for.

Visiting the Triberg waterfall, we thought we would walk down into town to the café that developed the original black forest cherry cake. It was worth it as the cake was absolutely delicious - plump cherries soaked in kirsch (I even wondered if I should...More

I went to Triberg to see one of Germany's tallest waterfall and stumbled on this find. We were fortunate because we had just finished when a coach load of people turned up. The demand for this authentic taste of the Black Forest Gateau meant you...More

The alcohol is added to the cake while making it. That is how I make mine. The original recipe does have alcohol, so I doubt this Cafe Schaefer will bake or serve it without the alcohol. There are other places around which... More
