Been twice and this place is famous for a reason the quenelle is incredible. The Fromage Fort is out of this world. Almost confusing.

I lived in Lyon for a few years and it was a real pleasure to going back to my favourite bouchon and enjoy the great food they prepare. Beware the place is packed with local business people at lunch time and a reservation is a must. I love their gras double, saucisson de Lyon with lentils or potatoe salad and... More

A fixed course menu that changes often provide you with a very local and tradicional experience. It started with Eufs en meurette, Poached egg cooked in perfect point into red wine sauce with bacon. Then we went for a variety of appetizers of Caviar de la Croix Rousse, a perfectly seasoned lentil salad, lyonnaise salad, lyonnaise charcuterie and terrine de... More

If you want to enjoy food from a unique menu of old fashioned French cooking in a Lyonnais "bouchon" (pub/tavern), this is the best place to go. Constructed over 100 years ago with a stone underground tasting room that was originally used to age wine and with a small cozy small dining room above. Only seats about 3 dozen people... More

When visiting Lyon I like to explore the different bouchons at at least try one new place. I had eaten at the bouchon across the narrow street previously and this trip A visit to the Cafe des Federations was on the agenda. The menu was available in English, an indication the a good portion of the clientele are tourists. First... More

I am glad we reserved our table in advance as the restaurant was completely packed when we walked in for lunch. We asked for one of the menu combinations put together by restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality. of all the food. Fresh wholesome ingredients very interestingly prepared and a relaxed friendly atmosphere made our lunch very... More

Tourist trap? There were no other English-speakers in the entire restaurant. This is the most authentic, most traditional, the best tasting lunch we had in Lyon or believe it or not, elsewhere in France. The waitress sat with us and went over the menu (her English slightly better than my French, but we made it work), encouraging us to order... More

Traditional restaurant, with very nice atmosphere. Food is great and traditional from Lyon. Staff is amazing (some staff can speak English => Amelie) and very welcoming. Let them guide you and enjoy your dinner!

Seldom do I take to negative reviews. I let poor experiences slide since all restaurants make mistakes or have off nights. But I must alert my fellow travelers to this cafe. While bouchons are an esteemed Lyonnaise tradition this cafe crosses the line into perdition in two important senses; it has perniciously aggressive and put-on service etiquette which instructs diners... I'm in Lyon several times each year for work and I always try to have at least one meal here. It's very cozy and the waiters are friendly. It's very different from most lyonnaise restaurants in that you feel relaxed. Don't get me wrong, everyone is friendly in Lyon, even with Americans ;) In the end the food is great... More
