I went to Le Poelon d'Or twice on my recent trip to Lyon, both because it was a block from my Airbnb, and because the food was excellent. The waitstaff is friendly, and it has a nice neighborhood ambience. The Salade Lyonnaise was outstanding; the duck confit and desserts were good but not exceptional. It's perhaps a bit pricey for... We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel staff. The restaurant serves traditional Lyonnaise fare. Had a shared entre of fois gras and artichoke which was sensational.Meals we chose were the special of Brest chicken in a morel sauce with rice and steak with potatoes gratin. Chocolate mousse finished off the meal. All courses were excellent and we were well... More

Our hotel recommended this place and made a reservation for us. Best meal we had on our two week trip traveling Spain and France. Very authentic. Every course and drink was amazing. We left incredibly full and happy. We recommend visiting here.

We booked a table here for our last nite in Lyon as a special treat. While the Lyonnais food was acceptable the bald guy was less than friendly and borderline rude. Unfortunately he also added an extra bottle of viognier to our bill without the slightest hint of an apology. Tip: watch your bill as this could be a routine... More

The menu specializes in Lyon cuisine and it doesn't disappoint. Enjoyable and filling dishes, good friendly and fun service and typical decor. We had a great family meal here and all walked out full and happy.

We went a la carte and had only mains. But we did start with a traditional communard - the aperitif of Beaujolais mixed with creme de cassis. The tete de veau was moist, tender, perfect. It came with potatoes and carrots and a creamy egg dressing. The other dish was boudin - two good sized pieces, soft, seasoned, delicious. It... More

Me and my partner fund this place by accident but glad we did. The staff is very friendly and the food was exceptional. We recommend you try the poached egg in red wine.

We were in this restaurant on a warm day in july and this upon recommendation of the hotel. The main plus is that you can sit outside on the street. We took the artichoke with foie gras and the gratin of aubergine... well what can we say... the food was utterly bland and definitely not an example of 'cuisine de... More

Le Poelon d’Or is a wonderful bouchon. Great food, vibrant and fun staff, and relaxed environment. We arrived later in the day and we were hungry. They slid us in at 2:15pm without so much as a sigh of disgruntlement (which we experience often, as we’d be a bit late or early for the proper eating times in France). These... More
