This place is a nice one in low season when there is between 30 to 40 % of terrace occupancy. In high season it's a real nightmare. The staff are ranging for friendly to grumpy and are totally disorganized. I went there in July with friends visiting Chamonix for the first time. We wanted to have lunch before walking down... Arrived for lunch, but there were no tables available at the time. I was directed upstairs to stroll through their museum - This is a real asset to the place and I hope they retain its character. I had steak and fries with a salad. Even with a steak knife I struggled to cut the meat. It may have been... More

We stopped here after the 4 mile hike from mid station over to mer de glacé. It has a glorious view of the glacier and mountains. I also love that the train goes by while you are sitting there eating and taking it all in. We opted to sit outside and dine. We had the cheese plate and the fish... More

The mountains watch as the staff scurries fleetfooted to serve all tables as hungry sight seers rush to catch the 2 pm train back. Great service, wonderful food. What more can one ask?

The place has the gorgeous view of the snowy mountains and the waterfalls. The service was nice, but the food tasted bad. There was no vegetarian dish.

We had lunch on the terrace and enjoyed both the food and the service : we ordered the pine bark cheese with charcuterie and a passion fruit millefeuille the Apremont white wine was great. Service was personnalized and efficient.

I had lunch with my family at the panoramic restaurant. The food was average and the service very bad. I asked an extra plate to share the pasta with my two sons. After a long wait, I had to go to pick it up myself after the pasta was already cold. I understand that it is peak season but service... More

When a staff member shouts (yes shouts - "I am not your dog"!) after you tried to get his attention for 30 minutes or more, we lost our patience. Did he hate non-french customers? Did he dislike that we wanted the rose wine we had ordered and not the white he came to serve? We will never know. His manager... More

I had lunch here recently when the weather was too bad to even see Mer de Glace. The food more than made up for not seeing the Glacier. It was delicious and beautifully presented.

We walk from le Plan de l'Aiguille to le grand Hotel du Montenvers. Beautiful hotel with an exposition inside. You could eat there if you want but we can't when we arrived there because there was a private party but we still could visit the hotel. Go see la Mer de Glace it worth it.

Starting june 2017, enjoy lunch on the sunny terrace facing the Dru peaks or inside cozy and warm in the dining room, with cuisine of authentic flavors made magical by the mountain setting. The Montenvers Restaurant welcomes you for a well deserved break during your visit to the mythical Mer de glace ... Slates of charcuterie to share, traditional stone soup, Savoyard stew, omelettes with mountain herbs. Here alpine flavors and savoyard traditions are placed on high.
