A friend of a friend had given us a photocopy of a tour book with some restaurants in Marseilles. This place had a good review so we decided to leave the tourist bustle of the old port and seek it out (really just 10 minutes walk from the old port). It's small and unassuming but the food was delicious and... More

Highly recommend this small (maybe 30-seat) establishment, which well merits a hike up some daunting hill stairs south of the Vieux Port. Polished friendly service in the front of the house, and three diligent chefs toiling in the compact, exposed kitchen -- all smiling as they work meticulously. (There are two seats at the bar overlooking the kitchen, for true... More

Went for lunch...it's a bit off the beaten path but so worth it. (Just a 5 min walk from the touristy port and up a set of stairs from the large square with bigger restaurants). I had the menu du jour which changes daily or weekly. I savored every flavor, texture, and bite! Very inventive food. I've had a lot... More

superb service and food! With a packed restaurant and only 2 staff on the floor and 2 more in the kitchen the service was friendly, excellent, efficient and all you could want. The food was delicious, with a small menu based around locally sourced fare, every mouthful was delicious. Excellent attention to detail, an absolute delight!

My wife and I had lunch at Le Grain Du Sel on Saturday, and were blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. My wife is vegetarian, a fact that we had mentioned when we booked, so for her they had altered one of the starters to make it suitable, and made a main... More

We were recommended to try Le Grain de Sel by a local journalist and am very glad we followed her advice. Unfortunately we were very rushed for time so skipped starters and went straight for a main course. Both my wife and I ordered the gnocchi casserole with clams and veal. I thought it was a nice dish, with very... More

Rave reviews, high ranking as one of the best in Marseilles led me to try this restaurant. They have a 26 euro lunch menu, no choices, an entree, a main dish and a desert. I was not impressed, the taste of each was just OK, nothing more, and much less than expectations.
