We actually ate there both nights while we were in Bayeux. The food was wonderful and the service was good. Everyone was friendly and spoke pretty good English. Would highly recommend but do suggest you make a reservation. It is a small and busy restaurant.

Trip Advisor had it right - very friendly and very good food. I guess I was surprised by all the Americans and English around me, though. There was a table of two French people near us, but they were one table. That always concerns me..... This night there was a large tour group of Americans in the restaurant, as well.... More

Used the same place every night,it was the best restaurant around. Good local food, very reasonable price wise. Tasty and well presented. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Gets very busy in the evenings, good idea to prebook in the morning if you can.

Cozy atmoshphere. Attentive, friendly service. Great, simple Norman cuisine with regional ingredients. We wanted a taste of Normandy, but The Rapiere seemed too stuffy so we opted for here (thanks Trip Advisor) and were glad we did. Yeah there are lots of Americans here (the staff graciously accomodated our moderate French), but the D-Day beaches are close by and those... More

This restaurant is so cosy and pretty inside. The menu offers good choices and various prices. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately too many Americans eat here! We were seated near 2 noisy couples constantly talking about their wealth and where they had travelled. Thank goodness the food and wine was good.

Traveling with our 2 boys, ages 13 an 16, we tried to avoid anything too formal, but took a chance on La Fringale (in part because of TripAdvisor) and it ended up being one of our best meals. Primarily because of the service - attentive but not stilted and very accepting of our moderate French language skills. If you have... More

My husband and I had dinner here after our D-day tour and it was fabulous. We did not have a reservation, but we were greeted warmly and seated right away. We both had the French onion soup and the red mullet with basil cream sauce. Both were incredible. For dessert, my husband had the creme brulee and I had the... More

We have been to Bayeux 3 times - staying overall a total of 10 nights - and every night we dine at La Fringale. The waiters, Franc and Cyril, are fantastic and always friendly and welcoming when we arrive. They go out of their way to ensure we have a wonderful dining experience. We cannot wait to get back to... More

Wonderful starters and then we all decided on the beef bourguignon, and what a great choice. Followed by super desert. Endless amounts of bread to the table. House wine was fine for our taste. Around 15 Euro per 1 litre carafe. 3 course approx 15 Euro. Waiter was always having fun and nothing was too much trouble. Wish it was... More

My two brothers, mother and I dined at La Fringale two nights in a row in October. The staff, who all spoke English, were fantastic with excellent senses of humor. They would entertain our elementary efforts to speak French with a smile and help us when needed. The menus were in French/English. The customers were a mix of tourists and... More
