What a lovely place and what experience!! Like eating in someone's house. Lovely food, friendly staff, interesting and definitely new experience for us to share table with strangers, but how nice. Very sad to have now left Toulouse, would definitely be back.

Alain is a really nice owner. The restaurant wants to make you feel as if you were going to your grandparents for dinner. Unmatching plates and glasses, benches instead of chairs, the feeling when coming in is definitly unusual. However the quality of the food and wine is there and the staff friendly. Good evening but I don't think everyone... More

Visited early January, so unsure if I was inflicted by new ownership. All I can say is 'bloody brilliant'! The terrine was rich and savoury. Judging by the chocolate colour - probably enhanced by blood. I had to stop myself having a 3rd helping to save room. Soft boiled eggs and cured fish (trout?) were also pretty good. The main... The name may be the same, the plates, the family style, BUT the quality is not. We were VERY disappointed. The spirit and quality of the place apparently left with its old owner, Jerome Navarre. The large slate bar menu of artisanal beer, apéritifs and digestifs is gone. The pathetic option - Leffe in a bottle. Really?! I can buy... More

It is a cold, rainy day in Toulouse. We dropped someone at the airport then headed to a restaurant that was supposed to be open all afternoon. As we arrived (just after 2:00) we were told that service for "dejeurner" was finished. Though disappointed at the time, we are now thrilled because just around the corner, we saw Cafe Navarre,... Chez Navarre is closed. We made reservations on a Monday for the coming Friday. When we arrived with two kids, one grandmother from the US and grandparents from the UK, the restaurant was dark even though we were 10 minutes late for our reservation. The restaurant next door told us that Chez Navarre had been sold on Tuesday and that... More

We had this place highly recommended by a local person at a museum in the city - his enthusiasm was with a reason! First - this is not a normal restaurant. You are placed at large tables which you share with other guests. Starters are placed at the tables, and you help yourself from and pass around a selection of... More

Only a few tables so make reservations! When you arrive all the appetizers are on the table, but eat sparingly as there's so much food to come. You are seated communal style which is absolutely perfect, we made so many friends and had such great conversation.Wine of course is separate from the meal and they have many excellent choices at... The host was very attentive and welcoming. We shared our table with some friendly locals, who we enjoyed dining with despite be language barriers. The restaurant was packed out on the Tuesday night we went- so book first if you can. The three courses are laid out, and you help yourself as if you are in someone's home. A surplus... More

Had lunch here and we loved it. The owner is very helpful explaining the menu and how it works. We were one of the first to arrive but the room was full in a few minutes. Obviously a strong local following. Great food in a wonderful old space. If you are over 5' tall, be careful in the toilets.
