Our last day in Paris staying near the Pantheon. We had a few hours to kill and wondered around the corner for lunch. Sunny day and two bottles of white later we had a marvellous time sitting out on the pavement. Food is fresh and the staff are very friendly. Worth a visit especially if you have a few hours.

A real traditional french resto with great traditional french food. There is a live music at the weekends which makes the ambiance perfect ☺

Arived around 9:30 and was told a five minute wait, then 15, then 40. A shame to start with this kind of thing, especially on a chilly night in Paris. 50cl of house red was very nice (17e90), and food was good. Nice soup of the day, roasted bone marrow, endive and blue cheese, and a basic but very tasty... More

Great atmosphere; great food... Pretty much anything you eat would not fail you as Les Pipos is not about the food at all. The atmosphere can be so great (depends on YOU as well) at times, you don't care about eating that much. Not for claustrophobic souls...

After a walking tour in the Pantheon area, we asked our guide for a good French bistro in the neighborhood. He suggested Les Pipos. We had wine. We had your typical farmer pate. A hearty vegetable soup and a steak that was cooked more then the requested "medium rare". It was a good, quiet time in the late afternoon and... More

After visiting the pantheon we came here for a lunch. The portions are immense and quite tasty. Tartare is like 0,5 kilo of meat and perfect flavoured. Small starter felt like a good main course. The service is also very good and quick. It looks like the people living near here come often for a glass or lunch and overall... More

Came for dinner one night. Good grilled cheese salad, OK confit. Loved the atmosphere, old bistro that had seen a lot. It is probably better as a place to stop by for a glass of wine and some charcuterie after visiting the Pantheon.

From the warm welcome you get the moment you walk in the door to the amazing food, it felt like a proper slice of historic France. Proper food (Steak tartare, bone marrow) served up in a short time. A lovely atmosphere that makes you feel as warm as the food.

Thank Tom W

Les Pipos is a journey back to real Parisian bistro culture. With a clientele composed of regulars, tourists, students from the Sorbonne and administrative workers from the French ministries across the street, there is always a convivial environment and interesting conversations going on at all times of the day. You can have a traditional french meal inspired from Auvergene, Normandy and the South of France at any time until 11pm on weekdays and 11h30pm on weekends. Les Pipos has a diverse and particular wine list for all tastes. We work with wine producers who are invested in exposing the simplicity and exquisite nature of french wines, many of which are organic (no sulfur). The owner prides himself in serving fresh produce, so makes all his purchases in Rungis (the largest fresh produce market near Paris) and has nothing delivered. All cuts of meat, fish and vegetables are hand-picked by the owner himself. There is live music every Friday and Saturday. It is best to reserve on the weekends to guarantee a table. Payments can be made by cash or credit cards (visa, mastercard, debit) but we do not accept American Express however.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
