This plain and simple restaurant will never win awards for its decor but if you're looking for good, hearty food at affordable prices, coupled with an amazingly friendly vibe then this is the place for you. It's seemingly populated with mostly regular customers who get welcomed like family. Space is at a premium both on the ground floor and on... More

Although very busy, the service was very good and the dishes were excellent. My wife was particularly impressed with the Chocolate Raspberry Torte for dessert. We were very happy with this restaurant.

From behind the zinc counter Guillaume leads the band at le Pied de Fouet to deliver food and drink to make your taste buds sing. They serve up traditional bistrot fare based on great ingredients with a varied selection of great value wines. Most of all, you will find genuine friendliness and warmth and get a true Parisian experience that... More

Dishes are simply prepared, served without silly flourishes, and delicious. The cooks are talented and friendly, and will come out to accept your thanks. The wait staff is also friendly and they speak good English. We went back four times, and had great meals every time!

Everyone eats at tables close to one another. The ambience is great. The food is quality with two meats one fish every day plus the standard menu. Wine is good, prices are great. Must for a lunch near le bon marché.

Wonderful food - simple but so well prepared that everything was delicious. I tried the white fish with potatoes and a small salad. Delightful. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and the host/owner was marvelous.

We are staying just around the corner from this place. It was exactly as advertised -- real French country cooking. Nothing fancy. Our waitress spoke fluent English and even had some colloquial expression, which made us laugh. I had the chicken livers and my husband had the pork cheeks -- both were good. I hadn't had chicken livers in years... More

We visited Au Pied De Fouet on an extremely hot evening in August. Around 6:30pm it was busy with tables available, but by 7:30pm it was nearly full. We had a truly memorable experience, the waitress was very happy, fun and informal and whilst we used all the French we knew she met us with excellent English. Some giant fans... More

The Au Pied de Fouet was one of the recommendations from our nearby hotel. They billed it as good, local food at reasonable prices and they were on the mark. We arrived shortly after 7 (opening time for them and most restaurants) and were seated right away in the small seating area. Service was prompt and friendly and they helped... More

Lunch time the place was packed with locals, we had a 10 minute wait to get in, however the host supplied us with a glass of wine while we waited outside. Once we were in it is one of those places you sit shoulder to shoulder with every one else an upstairs downstairs situation with only one great efficient waitress.The... More
