Reservations are a must in the restaurant as it is tiny. And worth it. The restaurant serves a prix fixed menu. The night we were there, it was a cauliflower veloute, roast loin of pork with vegetables, cheese, and panna cotta for dessert. We had a bottle of wine, from the Languedoc region, that was recommemded by the owner. Delicious.... More

Call ahead to reserve. You get what is served for the night - no choosing from a menu. We had potato soup, beef with vegetables, cheese plate and caramel pancetta. Excellent! Got the bottle of wine recommended, but you can pick out anything if you want to. Arrived 5 minutes early and they told us to come back but it... More

Very small Parisian bistro, tiny in fact, with wonderful food. No choice of food, you get what they serve. We have been twice, had some things we probably wouldn't have ordered, but absolutely loved everything we had. Think it's considered a wine store, too, so you pick your wine off the shelf, may be a little more expensive that a... More

Four of us had dinner in early May here - and loved every minute of it. We really enjoyed putting ourselves in the hands of the chef, and the dishes were excellent. We started with mushroom soup, then a seven-hour braised lamb shoulder in Provencal stew, then blue cheese, then strawberry panna cotta. Delicious! A very relaxed, easy-going service style... More

We had a nice meal at Les Papilles. It was good but I do not think we would return. They serve the same thing to everyone and I prefer to order unless it is a tasting menu.

The concept of Les Papilles is quite fun, it's a wine shop by day and restaurant by night. That means when dinner starts you have the chance to look around the wall of wine and choose your bottle for the evening. Note though, the bottles are a bit more expensive and there is a 7 euro uncorking fee. We usually... More

The best meal I had in Paris, and likely the best meal i've had during wider travels around Europe. The dishes were relatively simple in nature but superbly delivered. Cream of cauliflower soup, one-pot chicken and penne pasta and caramel panna cotta. Generous portion sizes, excellent value and a welcoming atmosphere make this somewhere I will definitely return when I... More

I really enjoyed my dinner. Bertrand, the proprietor, runs a bustling bistro but makes all diners feel special. I told him it was my birthday and along with my desert the waitress had a candle and sang happy birthday. Thank you Bertrand for providing a special meal and a personalized experience.

Easily the best dining experience I've ever had. I cannot fault any part of my night at Les Papilles from the exquisite food and wine recommendations to the super friendly and helpful staff, it is a must do while you're in Paris. Just to mention it is quite a small and cosy restaurant. I cannot recommend enough!

We chose this based on it being an "Absolute favorite" on Paris By Mouth, and highly reviewed by CNN. We loved it. They serve a 4 course fixed price meal in a packed and quaint bistro. You choose your own wine bottle from many on shelves around the tables. Soup was cream of celery with little crunchy bits of something... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
