We tried the continental for the children and the full breakfast for the adults. One waiter spoke very good english. It was quite large and very satisfying.

I ordered a Zima, not emphysema! Seriously the food, service, location, and prices were awesome, but get a table away from the street - too many people smoking at the front made things difficult to enjoy. All seafoods, and the steak au poive were wonderful....More

This is a popular restaurant in the authentic French fashion...wide selection, good quality food, brisk service with that Gallic flair which borders on negligence but which remains efficient. I had my usual steak tartare which was absolutely delicious. My wife's grilled salmon was of the...More

The duck confit here is INCREDIBLE. Best duck I've ever had, hands down. I don't speak French, and the servers don't speak English, but they were perfectly pleasant and accommodating. You wont find English menus here, but pointing and using a few key French phrases...More

We had lovely Campari's and Soda after a long hot walk around Paris. Very hot day and so this watering hole was very welcome. We shared the seafood/shellfish platter which was a bit too briny for me but my friend loved it. I ordered the...More

Very friendly and professional waiters, nice atmosphere, superb food being served, excellent wine at reasonable prices. We had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection followed by a lovely ice cream dessert. The seafood platters looked amazing and were quite popular with the diners. Would...More

Le Suffren was the neighborhood favorite while we stayed at the Hotel Tourisme Avenue in the Motte-Picquet section of Paris. Tourists are fortunate to discover what locals already know -- this cafe has consistent service, value and exceptional food. Their "Petit-Dejeuner l'Anglais" was a regular...More

We came here at 11:50 and asked about breakfast, and although breakfast service ended at 11:30(which we did not know when we asked), we were greeted with a smile and a "no problem". They serve a continental and English breakfast, the delivery was fast and...More

We had planned to walk to rue St Dominique and enjoy another lovely meal at Les Cocottes or Cafe Constant, but when it suddenly started to pour, we changed our plans. Le Suffren was nearby, so we ran in. Seemed to be mostly locals, very...More

We liked this place so much that we went twice during our two-day stay. The French onion soup was the best we've ever had. The crêpes were great. The creme brûlée was very good. They had good wine, good beer, and a great Irish coffee....More

I have no idea if there are to reopen or not. But I would believe the sign. When we were there for dinner, it was very busy. I think they are doing well -- so I doubt they will close permanently. Perhaps they are renovating.

My husband and I ate there twice recently in Paris and loved I. We especially enjoyed a specialty coffee with Calvados brandy. I found a bottle of Calvados in Canada where we live but would love to know how this drink was made and what other ingredients were included? It tasted sweeter in the restaurant than the Calvados in the bottle. Could you share the recipe ?Thank you in advance. Wish I was back in Paris at Le Suffren.

I am not sure, but I believe that Calvados is popular in Normandy. Different producers make different tastes.
