Regardless of the weather, lunch on the glassed in terrace is always a thrill at the Dome.Location is wonderful for people watching..inside (LOL`s, small groups of friends and the solos who are treated like the waiter`s (Jan) grandmother. Out side a parade of Parisien life passes for inspection. The food is simply great-I`m hooked on the fish soup with a... More

This is clearly not the cheapest restaurant in town. That said, we're in Paris, and I rather doubt it's the most expensive either. We booked for 7.30, but were very much welcomed when we arrived early at 7pm. All of the staff we dealt with were lovely, happy to let us try our French or switch to English, and the... More

Infamous Art Deco brasserie. Wonderful atmosphere and the food was fondant! Although the waiter seemed under pressure, he was very attentive.

My partner and I spent an entire month in Paris virtually exclusively for visiting the places Hemingway lived, drank, walked parties. Along with Hemingway, many other artists drank here, among them Man Ray, Henry Miller, Khalil Gibran, Picasso. This is at the heart of Montparnasse and it was the first Paris café memorialised for the ex-pats and intellectuals who frequented... More

Very expensive, very bad service : Our table was set in the restaurant's hallway 20min to process our order, and still no dish 20 min. after the first course. We had to leave before the end. Bill ; 87€ for 2x 6 oysters (not very good) and half a bottle of dry white wine. Paris has much better to offer...I... More

The Le Dome is among the most traditional Brasseries in Paris. The interior design, still has a smell of the roaring 20s. The "Le Dome" claims its expertise on fish dishes. For the prices, charged, the food is rather disappointing. Though the quality is fair, prices come at a premium.

Sumptuous and opulent Art Deco brasserie on the Boulevard du Montparnasse, one of the legendary Paris meeting spots of avant garde artists, celebrities, powerful politicians and the merely wealthy. Matre d'Hotel Jacques Drouot is friendly, welcoming, solicitous and helpful in ways small and large. He made our dinner special and memorable beyond the food and service, which matched that of... For about half dozen years I've had the extreme pleasure of occasional lunch and dinner at this charming restaurant. The high quality of cuisine and staff is always consistent. Ambience is clearly Paris at its most delightful. My French is very limited but it has never posed a problem. The waiters often speak English and are highly knowledgeable about the... More

I was in Paris eager to enjoy a bouillabaisse. For those who haven't heard about, it's a dish with origin in Provence, in fact a fish soup made with St Peter in a special broth that keeps the secrecy of the meal, due to its delicious taste. My order lasted 35 minutes to come to the table, as predicted by... More

Le Dome is a legendary Montparnasse restaurant, the lone wolf now that La Coupole has become blah. Great plateau de fruits de mer, sole meuniere.....and great waiters but you have to know how to deal with them. Great location , and Rosebud is next door.

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
