This was our second time at Clown Bar. Ten years ago we visited when it was still run by the last owner. We had a great time eating classic bistro food and chatting with the owner. Now we have new, young owners and the food is brilliant. The pigeon and foie gras pie should go down in gastronomic history. The... More

I read the review in the NY Times and immediately booked The Clown Bar. When we arrived at 730, they were already out of the beef special, which is what our two 18 year-old daughters wanted, as we saw it being served and it looked delicious. I tried to talk to the Japanese chef, but he knew no English. The... More

We had heard from our hotel concierge that this was a popular reservation and difficult to get, but he came through for us. The place itself was small, more like a bar than a restaurant with a dining room. Tables were close and cozy, but the ambience/vibe was bustling and pleasant. The food was quite good, and generally satisfying. I... More

The French pronouce this "cloon" - now "clown" -FYI! What a fun experience to dine here! Small, eclectic joint with some adventurious dishes on the menu. You're guaranteed to try something new here. For us, that "new" thing was veal brain. Delicate, earthy and minerally, soft like tofu and virtually tasteless. I think the dashi broth was incredible and really... More

We knew the reputation before we went, so our expectations were low, but the staff is exceptionally and unnecessarily rude. We stopped by without a reservation hoping to either grab a last minute table or drinks. We walked in and before we even said a word, an employee rushed from the back of the restaurant and shook his head no... More

Saw a photo on Instagram of this place and the circus next door must have been working because there were elephants standing around out front of the restaurant. On the night I attended, no elephants. This is really my only complaint. I love elephants. We started with scallops with ricotta and coriander. When I say coriander there was a LOT.... More

Can't believe that such wonderful dishes come out of such a tiny kitchen. Busy and buzzy and not cheap but simply amazing flavours and inspired food choices.

Friends said we had to go, they were right. Weekly menu had lots of good choices. All the dishes were tasty and presentation was top rate. Started with Foie Gras it was very tasty and the portion was huge, loved the Duck main course unlike anything I've ever seen or had. It's a winner

Each year I come to Paris and meet up with my Parisian friends. They ask around for a great restaurant. We've gone to some great, some mediocre. This year's restaurant was the clown bar. Ambiance is nothing special. While the meal was very good, I wouldn't say it was great. I had a bonito crude to start, followed by a... More
