We arrived at 19h00 and it was already full but we got a table for four immediately. The décor and the ambiance is quite singular. Like stepping into a time machine. The menu is short; the waiters are fast (and they write the order on the paper table mat) and the food is…ok, but the price is reasonable. We had... More

We visited here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend and although we were glad we tried it (because it was so funny we couldn't stop laughing) I definitely wouldn't go again and I cannot understand why people queue to get in (we arrived quite early so didn't have to queue). The decor is lovely and it was nice... More

We went around 7pm and had to wait about 30 minutes to get in. Two of us had the Sea Bass and two had the duck. The Sea Bass was good and duck was ok. I probably wouldn't get the duck again. Go early to avoid the lines.

Walking into this beautiful & bustling space my partner and I were excited for the meal ahead. We didn't bat an eyelid being seated at a table for four with another couple as this is part of the experience. We also embraced the fast paced service and requirement to order dessert while still eating our main - all part of... More

French restaurants naturally want to celebrate their cuisine. I've barely been to any Parisian restaurant that is willing to push the boundaries away from the tradition. This place is completely unwilling to divert from a classic French menu. No problem if you deliver French food that matches the self-proclaimed excellence that the natives vehemently advertise. However, Le Bluillon Chartier falls... More

We ate an early dinner to avoid the dinner rush. Food was good, but service was fabulous. Our server made us feel like we were the most important guests in the restaurant. Prices were better compared to other restaurants we are at. Desserts were average. Will visit again next time we are in Paris.

Friendly garçon, nice environment, food come really quickly even the restaurant is full of people. I was impressed by their organization and service. Food tastes good and it is cheap compared to other places.

I had dinner recently at Chartier with an English friend who came to visit me. We were lucky enough to enter the place immediately without having to queue, as we went there are around 6:30 pm. I think the place is ok if you want to have a simple meal with french food. It's not fancy but I liked it... More

This was our third trip to Bouillon Chartier, and the first time the menus were in English. I think they finally gave in to the requests. I was just as happy to have them in French only, as it added to the experience. In two of our three visits to Chartier, we (as a couple) were seated at a 4-top... More

We were lucky with our seating as quite a queue can build up! Either arrive early (6.30) or really late if you want to avoid waiting for a long time. The service was surprisingly good especially in Paris, the city notorious for rude waiters. The food was nice (not exquisite, but the prices make it well worth it) and it... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
