I have passed it by many times without entering, and I shall again, but I shall look in curious to see who is seated at one of the dozen of tables under dark wood, red lights and signs and souvenirs of the fifties. When I was there recently, the substitute server recommended the avocat w/ crab over the green lentil... More

I went there for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime. Situated just across the Marks and Spencer food shop, this is a typical small French bistro with no frills attached. For 18 euros you can choose a main and dessert or starter and main. The food is of good quality ( I had the steak cooked to my liking... More

A local friend took us to this restaurant. It was a disappointment to all of us. The food was mediocre at best. Several of us had fish for a main course, which was bland and nondescript. I had a lentil and sausage starter that looked uninteresting. The server was fine and the environment was quiet and cozy, in large part... More

We went as a group of 5 - following personal recommendations. We had 4 different entrées and 5 different main courses, a cheese plate and one dessert, and all were fine. The red wine suggested by the hostess was excellent. Prices were moderate for the quality. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I've seen the negative reviews and can... More

We got this recommendation from Matt Barrett on Parisinfo.com - it was a great suggestion for a very nice meal in a local feeling restaurant, quiet and just off a street humming with tourist filled places. Food and service were excellent - we felt we had a good taste of some of the best of French local eating experience.

This restaurant had been recommended to me by numerous friends in Paris and I have seen it reviewed positively online in a bunch of places. My thoughts: On a lovely warm evening the terasse was great. Super cute spot. The food was fine. That's it. Nothing to rave about. Our waiter was super slow, would talk to other people (including... Friends and I came here for dinner while in Paris for a weekend. We read great reviews of Bistro Henri, which was full but they referred us here. The staff were lovely, and the food tasted great, prices decent for the area. Then, two of the group who ordered a fish tartare got food poisoning that evening! Clearly, the fish... More

Great food, friendly and attentive service, and a great "left bank, Paris" experience. The kind of place we expect to return to often on future visits.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
