Walking along the streets of Montmartre, our favourite suburb of Paris we found this pleasant eatery off the tourist trail. Initially we called in for a mid-morning coffee but returned after a prolonged ramble along the streets. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. We opted for menu du jour, deciding to have only a starter and main. Both were... More

Off the tourist trail, this establishment offers good food, very good value for money and excellent friendly service. We called for a coffee mid-morning and were impressed with the menu that later after touring the area looking for somewhere to take lunch we returned. We had the formule de midi. The portions and quality were extremely good. I would go... More

Nestled in the more local areas of Montmartre, we stumbled across Au Relais as we walked down from the Basilica towards the Moulin Rouge and decided to stop and eat outside. Very good food, and good service. Not the typical tourist spot, with some authentic French dishes, and a good, inviting atmosphere. They also played some great music as we... More

Great location on a quiet street, a 6 minute walk from the landmark Sacre Cour, this bistro style restaurant has authentic French atmospherics and Parisian menu, with a touch of fusion for the North American palate. It has both street and indoor seating and we sat outside. The restaurant is also just steps from Rue Caulaincourt, which is a very... More

I stopped by this cafe restaurant on my way back from Montmartre. I felt like dessert and coffee, so i ordered a capuccino and a fondant du chocolat. Good coffee, well prepared (three coulored) and the fondant was delicious, served with vanilla ice cream. The server was nice and attentive. The spot and the location are very nice and relaxing.

Found this place by chance while walking up to sacre coeur, looked very inviting and with a traditional French cafe ambience. We had some wine with light snacks of snails and bone marrow. The snails were served with a lovely garlic sauce and the bone marrow was served with toast. Highly recommended if you are in that area

We had our accomodation very close to the bar, and it seems pretty busy all day long with happy french people having their food in the street with a cup of wine. We had dinner here with no reservation on a weekday which was not a problem. The terrace was full but it was cozy inside as well. Traditional design,... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
