When people talk about the Japanese Successful chef in Paris, you always hear about Sola. I didn't doubt that it's gonna to be good, but even beyond my expectation. The delicate plat with perfectionism in presentation; the surprising combination of different ingredients brought a great experience, and still, it is royal to the "basic" of the real French Cuisine. Bravo!!

The starred restaurant usually offers an Omakase menu which in Japanese means: “I leave it to the chef”. It’s usually a multi-course menu that is delicately designed by the prestigious chef Mr. Hisroshi Yoshitake, whom I had the pleasure to meet. He is a very warm and humble person. As a matter of fact, on my way to the bathroom,... More

At about 100 euro a person , there is no "menu". It is a surprise. Be careful if u dont like certain foods and be sure to tell them in advance. I neglected to tell them that none of us 3 liked squid, and we had one course which we couldnt eat and which chef wouldn't replace because it was... More

I am very sorry to hear that the food was not to your taste. Indeed Japanese cuisine is quite delicate and perhaps the flavors were too subtle for your taste. I would like to remind you the concept of the restaurant is that we serve only one menu, it is therefore difficult for us to provide children menu, more so... More

I would say that my evening at Sola ranks as one of my best eating experiences ever. I can't say it was overtly Japanese, although that is where the Chef was born, and so it has an influence. French influenced by Japan was our tasting experience. But if you enjoy food, and want a meal that is inventive, has incredible... More

What they do it's not easy and they take some risks with this fusion kitchen. In this restaurant it works really well, but would it have worked as well If they went 100% Japanese? Food fantastic with Delicate taste all the way, but Wine pairing inclusive sake works on most plates not all.

Chef Yoshitake Hiroki has made this stop[ across from Notre Dame Cathedral an absolute must when in Paris. Using french ingredients and giving such unusual twists makes this a different experience each time. Whether in the street floor normal dining room or the ground floor vaulted and Japanese style the experience is calm and superb.

We went there several times over the last few years and we have never been disappointed. Service is friendly and food exquisite. We always enjoy to have lunch when we visit Paris.

Decided to try this restaurant at the behest of my in-laws. They know food, and I was intrigued because it was a Japanese-French fusion. The only think available for lunch was the Degustación menu, which is where the chef makes the food and you eat it, or not... as you chose. Obviously, if you aren't brave enough to have a... More

It's not easy to describe this little gem and do it justice. The staff is so professional and polite and the food is just beyond amazing... just sit down and let them serve you dish after dish of beautiful creations.

In fairness, the food was exceptional. The chef is talented and creative, preparing complete dinners each night. Guests are not given a choice, although they will make an effort to accommodate food allergies. The reason for the low rating is that our (very expensive) evening was marred by the 65 Euro per person wine pairing. For a total of about... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighbourhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
