We like to sit outside when the weather is good and we saw this restaurant on one of our walks around Paris. We arrived at about 7:15 and were able to sit immediately. We started with a couple of kirs, they were good, and then moved onto our meal, rognon de veau and the pasta of the day, with some... More

We got there too early for dinner, but were invited to sit down for some espresso and hot chocolate, which turned out to be just what we needed. We left for a bit and were warmly welcomed by the waiter and the owner. We ate a scrumptious meal in a cosy corner as the restaurant filled up with another tourist... More

We had a great time at "Chez Margot". The food was delicious - fresh - well prepared - and nicely presented. The waiter was really kind. The overall ambiance was comfy and chic! I recommend greatly this place - but make reservation they were full!

We stopped off after a long trip into Paris on valentine's. Despite chancing our luck, there was a table for two in this really quaint restaurant. The decor was lovely, romantic and set a really good ambience. The staff were only too happy to help us as our French is embarrassingly not great and we understood the menu perfectly. The... More

We came by this place quite late at night, it looked cosy so we went it. As we wanted to experiment, we chose tartar (beef one for my boyfriend and tuna + avocado for me). They were both delicious, we really did not expect this. The place looks rather more like a pub so you wouldn't expect it to have... More

As a Brasserie on a quite main road on a Saturday you wouldn't necessarily visit this place but it is worthwhile. We only had starters Soupe du Jour (Pumpkin), Lentil Salad with Haddock and a pouched egg as Oysters to share... Absolutely wonderful and a good level of service. Worth a visit if at a loose end in Paris.

This place was delightful. It's convenience is why we went, but the food was good (lamb and thin-slice beef) and the service was charming from two women who spoke enough English to communicate and laugh at little mistakes by all of us. Their was a local clientele mixed with a few Americans and others. Felt "real" without being too pretentious... More

Chez Margot is one of my favorite restaurants. For years I have always felt welcome. Many locals think the same. That creates a family atmosphere with help from friendly and efficient waiters. A bit away from hectic Bastille and on the edge of the Marais it's an authentic Parisian bistro with old-world charm. From boulevard Henri IV you can spot... More

This place is near my apartment. Would I go there if it weren't so convenient? Probably not. It's a reliable, steady, and pleasant bistro. I had the chicken with a mild and tasty curry sauce and licked the plate clean. The sauce was outstanding. The house red was fine as well. The service was great for the first 3/4 of... More

Description
CHez Margot is a very typical french bistro with a real gourmet kitchen. Famous bistro recipes and specialized in FRENCH beef very tasty. Everything is homemade, sauce, pastries etc...plus own creations. A beautiful terrasse, heated and covered in winter. Located in front of "THE REPUBLICAN GUARD" with the show of horses coming in and out during the day. With an effective and smily service, CHEZ MARGOT became a reference in "the marais" it's a neighborhood restaurant.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
