Our friends had enjoyed a several hour lunch at this bistro on previous visits to Paris and suggested we meet there for a late lunch after our respective museum visits. We arrived early and since it was a beautiful, warm Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was very busy. We were seated at the second level from the street which made for... More

I have nothing against the food served in this brasserie apart from the price....€19 for a risotto is a bit steep. The staff was also very friendly. However we wanted something light before seeing an exhibition. As we entered all the tables facing the bar were empty with a menu on each. The friendly maitre d'hôtel invited us to move....to... Hmm... Slightly on the fence about this one. Interior interesting, contemporary, good quality decor. The temperature was somewhat too hot. The music a bit too loud. Service was fine. You can have a seafood platter, the house speciality, which is prepared outside and came in wreathed in steaming dry ice which looked spectacular. However we went for meat and I... More

We have been there for lunch after visiting the museum Marmotin. It's really a full fledge restaurant. We had fois gras as starter, Saint Jacques and maigret (duck) as main. Main dishes were finely cooked and presented. All were also more sophisticated than one could expect in a Bistro. I had a strange beer (pression) with an acid taste I... More

I went with friends for dinner last night. We had a wonderful set course dinner, beautiful, flavoursome French cuisine, excellent atmosphere, but the best part was our waiter Hugo. He was great. He was knowledgable about the menu, had several languages to make all of us feel at home and added humour to his interactions. Great food and great service.... More

For a "bistro", the Grand Bistrot de la Muette is actually quite elegant, lined with sriped banquettes and dotted with rather formally prepared tables. On weekdays -- for once including Saturdays -- they have a 25-euro menu with quite a bit of choice. I had a kind of poached egg thing with cuttlefish and red peppers, rather unusual, and good.... We arrived at lunchtime on a cold Saturday in November and the restaurant was packed. We waited a while for a table and were delighted to be given a complimentary drink. Me and my wife have been going to Paris for the past 10 years. This year we branched out from our usual restaurants (Murat, Le Congres, L'Auberge dab). I have to say this worked out really well. We had the best food thus far, the service was impeccable. I would like to specifically recognize Hugo (our waiter) who made us... More

Having been on a downward slope I went back there (I needed to be persuaded) and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff and service was quick and efficient The menu is varied and the food was very good. Description
This bistro is a concept-restaurant that honors French cooking and hospitality with an all-inclusive 3 courses, house aperitif, half bottle of wine each and coffee for 44 per person. Bistro La Muette restaurant in the very smartest part of Paris' chic 16th arrondissement calls itself a bistro but is a smart little restaurant. The front dining room is a contemporary space with a wall of water and lighting effect at one end of the room, black Murano chandelier, elegant upholstery and tapestries, while the rear is more traditional with upholstered seating in tones of red. The sunny terrace is delightful too. Like the decor, the menu offers the best of traditional and more modern French cuisine, with dishes like avocado with crab, cappuccino with mildly hot pepper of espelette, roast rack of lamb with rosemary jus and gratin potatoes and crispy dark chocolate cake with mocha sauce.

Staying in Trocadero

Neighbourhood Profile
Trocadero
This is the neighbourhood of grand and impressive Haussmann-designed apartments and buildings. National museums overlook the Eiffel Tower and embassies fill the avenues and streets. Locals head to the butcher, florist, or bakery on their daily rounds amidst luxury and splendour, all with a view over Paris and its most famous tower. Snuggled in between the grand buildings are small art galleries and homes of historical significance. With a rich legacy from 19th century politics, art, and architecture, you can’t help but be reminded of the belle époque, the Universal Exhibitions and the nobility that have frequented and shaped these streets.
