I had a really good onion soup followed by cheese and ham on toast topped with a fried egg, good value obviously freshly made and a friendly waiter helped make the evening , not a gourmet meal but exactly what I wanted that particular evening

Nice food and friendly staff. Tolerated our butchering of the French language nicely, happy hour until 10pm

From the moment we walked in I knew we'd made a mistake in choosing Cafe Rubis. The host/waiter looked us up and down first and made us feel like we weren't welcome. I know the French aren't crazy about Americans, but this man made us completely uncomfortable. He asked me what i wanted twice and still got my order wrong.... More

Good food for price. Service a bit varied. Handy to our little hotel in Mont Parnasse and on a corner.

Popped into RuBis after a long morning of touristing, in need of some food and a sit. Alas, the atmosphere, food, and service of this cafe were sadly lacking by Paris standards. The service was a bit distracted and the food, while visually appealing, was rather tasteless and unhappy. Perhaps they were having a bad day, but I wouldn't go... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
