I've eaten here several times over the last decade or so. The restaurant is small and characterful with timber frames inside. Service is attentive. The menu is reasonable priced, food consistently good and inventive. The wine list is varied with a good moulis by the glass.

I love this place. Classic Paris cafe. It was inviting, super comfortable, beautiful and efficient. A quiet little square in the middle of Ile de la Cite. It was a cold day in December, it was mid- to late-afternoon. I was tired, many miles from my hotel, and needed a wifi connection, so I chose La Rose de France. I... More

La Rose de France is an attractive restaurant ideally set on the Place Dauphine. It's hard not to want to give a try. Our party of 4 tried it out on Jan. 23, and much regretted the experience. The cuisine is beautifully presented, but frankly meager and mediocre for the price 29€ entrée + plat. Still, that would be acceptable... More

Popped over to Paris (from England) for lunch for my birthday on 13 January. Wanted to eat in Place Dauphine and we chose La Rose de France. So glad we did. Excellent choice. The lady who served us was very helpful and understood my dreadful French. Food was wonderful. Sirloin steak SO much better than we get here. Starters and... More

My wife and I forgot to make a reservation for dinner that night. We spent a fair amount of time going from restaurant to restaurant trying to get a table. The staff was friendly and more than happy to sit us for dinner without a reservation. I was afraid that we might have settled, till the food came. It was... More

Nice quite restaurant with super-delicious food! I had a fantastic sea bass there, the service was very friendly and the location is pretty. I'll definitely come again once I'm in Paris! I do recommend to check this place out, I'm sure everyone will like it!

We stopped by, mid afternoon hoping to have some warm drinks as it was chilly. We sat down under the heater outside while my 11-year-old son went inside to use the restroom. The server came out, looked at us, and rudely asked if we were planning on eating. (They were not busy.) When we said no, just drinks, she grunted... More

Went in on a quiet November night. The waitress was extremely pleasant all evening, the food was very good and the ambience was tranquil. Perhaps 4.5 overall as we both ordered the same steak and one was cooked slightly more than the other. The desserts were lovely and clearly homemade.

Just enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. It was in a lovely location, away from the busy areas around the latin quarter but in classic french buildings with wooden beams and loads of charm. It was a very nice meal, the seafood was great and one of us ordered the sirloin which was also great. The service we really friendly and... More

This was the first meal we had in Paris and left feeling very satisfied. The restaurant is quite cosy on a quiet street giving it a more laid back, peaceful atmosphere. It was here that I tried escargot for the first time and loved it! My meal- lamb shank- was delicious and tender and the side of mashed potato was... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
