My wife and I stumbled across L'Avenir entirely by accident. It's a friendly little place, which produces a higher quality couscous than I've ever had in the UK! We made a point of returning to L'Avenir on a second trip to Paris recently and it lived up to my very positive first impression. Good food at a good price.

When you are looking for truly original northern African food L'Avenir is just the place! Located about 200 m away from the Moulin Rouge, it serves Couscous with various kinds of meat or vegetarian, mince tea, arabian delights, etc. All cooked and presented in the traditional way in a very friendly atmosphere. The prices for the main courses are reasonable... More

Went to L'Avenir with some work colleagues as we were looking forward to some couscous and we weren't disappointed. I had the couscous imperial, which allows you to have several types of meat and the couscous was really light and fluffy, I was really impressed and very full after. Very friendly staff. Will definitely stop there again next time I... More

I had a very nice meal at L'avenir, a cosy restaurant in a quiet area of Pigalle. Being a vegetarian my only option was the vegetarian couscous, which was tasty but unimaginative. My meat eating friends had lots of options and raved about the food for days. I'm only giving it 3 because of the lack of veggie options, but... More

Very friendly people running l'avenir. The lamb tagine is outstanding - made with plums, mint, artichoke, potato, etc. The cous cous is very light and fluffy. All served in cool dishes to serve yourself from. Highly recommended in Paris!

I ate here 3 times during my last trip to Paris, and each time the food (twice tajine, once cous cous) was delicious. Compared to other restaurants in the area is way better and pretty cheap for the city's standards. The owner is nice and friendly, I ll surely go back there next time I m in Paris.

I totally recommend this place. First the welcoming is so nice, the owner is ver y charming. The food is magnificent!!! This is the place for a real cous cous and incredible Tajin in Paris. Chicken and citron is wow. Very good wines, good price. We had a very pleasant dinner. Lovely and very good neighborhood.

What a great neighborhood place. We needed a restaurant and a local passing by said good in French so we figure why not and we were not disappointed. The staff treated us very well and since my wife speaks fluent French, she was having a conversation with the staff and the local who was there. If you want to feel... More

We came here on a Saturday and they did not have a full menu, I also think that some of the dishes, like the duck was just being reheated. That said, the meal was better for my husband who order the tagine which he enjoyed. I had the avocado with shrimp which reminded of my youth as it was a... More

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat at the cafe the night we arrived. We were pleasantly surprised with the service; our waiter was very friendly and he really helped to welcome us to Paris. The food was good. Not great, but good, and I thought that the prices were right on the mark for the quality... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
