Our hotel concierge was able to snag a late reservation through his contact at the restaurant and we were grateful. As we lingered over our desert (fromage for My wife and a single malt for me) we realized how lucky we were. Our first courses were pumpkin soup, which was rich without being heaving. It tasted strongly of pumpkin with a hint of ginger and something creamy but was light and airy on the tongue. I had terrine slices of a wonderfully creamy paté wrapped in duck. With the small salad with mustard dressing it was sublime. Our mains courses were herb crusted lamb loin and a beef filet topped with a seared foie gras both service with a side of potato and vegetables. The sauces served with both courses were bread worthy; I suffered the extra carbs to not waste any sauce! The small dining room was in a small wine cave; tastefully decorated which retained energy without being overly loud. Finally, while the food and wine was of high quality the prices were very reasonable. Make your way there if you find yourselves in Reims!

Being massive foodies in the UK, we had high hopes for this restaurant based on the positive reviews. The restaurant has a small vaulted cellar offering well-prepared French classics and terrific desserts such as crème brûlée with chicory ice cream. We may have visited on an off day in that whilst the service was excellent (the owner kindly translated parts of the menu others in our party were struggling with), our main courses were distinctly average. The filet of beef served with potato gratin and a small vegetable parcel was overcooked, bland and unseasoned. The somewhat mediocre mains were saved by the piece de la resistance - the Coupe de champagne gourmande which was a small asiette of four delicious desserts served with a glass of finest fizz. I couldn’t resist ordering a glass of the citron au marc de Gewurztraminer which was the perfect accompaniment! This was most definitely a game of two halves – average mains followed by an exceptional dessert.

My wife convinced me to book a table well in advance and she was right (again) … We started with a good glass of Champagne (what else ?!) and ordered red wine to accompany our food. It however is worth it to continue with Champagne and order a bottle of “Champagne du mois” at a very affordable price. I started with the “Portefeuille de magret de canard au fois gras” which was just excellent. The “Filet d’agneau” was cooked to perfection … I could not resist “L’assiette de fromages” and was more than happy with my choice … My wife sticked to the “Menu des terroirs” of which she believed it was the very best choice … A place to remember and to visit on our next stay in Reims … no doubt !!

Family run place serving traditional dishes, with wow factor of the downstairs cave. No fireworks in the dishes we had; thin slices of delicately smoked veal as one of the starters was outstanding; there was a hint of sweetness in the seafood choucroute that didn't work for us. Friendly service. Small fairly priced wine list. Won't rush to go back, but enjoyed our dinner nonetheless. Two starters, two mains, great plate of cheese, two glasses of champagne, and decent bottle of pouilly fume was a good deal at €139.

Our high expectations were not met. The food was decent but the service was poor. We ordered the beef rare and it came medium to well done. It was exchanged but without apologies and no further questions whether we enjoyed the food. The replacement came very late after my friend already finished her dinner and no compensation was offered. The staff generally seemed inattentive.

In Reims for two nights we found this little gem. The food was superb obviously built on perfect raw materials with a well balanced menu. We had both kinds of pate followed by lamb and guineafowl: we shared a cheese plate but failed to make it through to dessert! Short and reasonably priced wine list (good 2011 St Emilion for 46 Euros). Extremely welcoming team were very helpful in helping us navigate the menu and looked after us discreetly but with enthusiasm. A winner!

We visited the last Saturday of November, the service was efficient and staff friendly. We chose a la carte which was excellent, food was well prepared and delicious. We had a 'local' bottle of wine which was reasonably priced and suited the meal. we found this restaurant before covid19 reared its head, a good discovery. and will be back when staying in Reims.

A central but quiet location with an unassuming shop front and an enchanting cellar seating area. The staff were very accommodating and gave me a great table without reservation. I chose a taster menu and was very impressed by the quality of the food and how accurate the other excellent reviews were. The wine list is more than adequate and the food is plated with the utmost attention. A foodies must and compliments to the excellent staff.

As soon as we were arrived we had a fantastic welcome from the host at the door. We’re English speakers but trying to improve our French and the staff were more than accommodating - speaking French unless we really needed help! Food was well cooked and classic French & my steak came exactly as ordered. Toilets were very clean and kitchen looked immaculate when I peered in. Great food but the service really was 10/10! Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Our party of two had a nice dinner at this place on a Monday night. The restaurant has both a cellar and a main floor. The restaurant was full and so I suggest reservations on a Monday in winter because many restaurants are closed on Monday. One of us had the pumpkin soup which they said was delicious and the guinea fowl which they said was a little dry. The other had a green salad and Arctic char which also was a little dry. The food was good, the food was reasonably priced and the service pleasant.

As I plan my next trip to France, I realize I never reviewed L'Alambic, a major oversight since my 2022 visit there was a marvelously memorable meal. I'm mostly vegetarian, so chose the choucroute maritime, a delightful variation on a traditional French dish that I usually cannot eat. My wife, who is a dedicated carnivore, had the steak, which she sampled gingerly, hesitated a moment, then declared, "this is the best thing I have ever tasted!" We had the champagne of the month, which proved excellent. As we left, the owner/manager offered us a taste of liquered cherries, which we could well have eaten a liter of. As everyone notes, the ambiance and service are superlative. And although this year's trip will emphasize Normandy and Brittany, it would be worth the train trip to Rheims for another try at L'Alambic.

Reservations are a necessity here and ask for a table in the cellar which is very cosy. As with a lot of restaurants in France, there are limited options for vegetarians, but they'll make you a plate with seasonable vegetables if you ask for it. They have excellent wines and the service was very friendly.

We specifically picked Reims as a stop on our road trip to Italy just so that we could visit this restaurant (as we loved it so much last year). The second visit to this restaurant was just as lovely as the first. The food, service and champagne are incredible.

Absolutely delicious meal. Table of six including a child ate tonight. We all ordered different things off the menu and it was all outstanding. It is small so I’d advise booking ahead. The three course set menu is €36 and is worth every penny.

We booked this restaurant based on the excellent reviews and were not disappointed. The Proprietor was really helpful to explain the menu and we all chose something different. All four of us were truly delighted with our choices. This is definitely a place to visit when in Reims and it very reasonably priced.
