We always visit this restaurant on the way to the Alps every year. It has the best atmosphere of any French restaurant that we've been to in France. There are always birthdays celebrated here by the locals - music is played, a dessert with a sparkler comes out and everyone claps & sings along. There were 5 birthdays celebrated on... More

We were recommended to go to this restaurant by the hotel staff but warned without a booking we would not get in. Luckily we heeded this advice and booked as it was indeed full on a week night out of seasona and people were being turned away. The decor is traditional and quirky in places. The speciality of poulet de... More

Very good food across all the dishes we ordered. We were 8 diners, and between us had the Salmon, Entrecote, and chicken dishes, and two salads: a green salad with goat cheese toasts and a green salad with Tuna. All were very good dishes. There's a display with some amazing desserts, but we resisted them... :-) Service was OK, although... More

This restaurant was delightful! Pink linen table cloths and napkins and friendly staff! We loved the traditional chicken en bresse which includes a lovely cream sauce with mushrooms (or without mushrooms if you prefer). The pate was wonderful as were the desserts. Le Francais was buzzing with lots of patrons but there was no rush - an altogether wonderful experience.

Went there for lunch for seafood on the recommendation of my hotel and ended with no seafood but an excellent meal. Packed with local people, one needs to book! I was lucky to get a table at 12 noon... Great traditional cuisine (superb ris de veau!)

Not quite! But this old fashioned traditional brasserie is reeking in history. So many of the old time brasseries in Paris have been taken over by "restaurant groups" and have become almost a caricature of their original being. This, one of a kind place, is still full of local business people and families, as well as the occasional tourist. The... More

Having read the reviews on tripadvisor we decided to try this restaurant during a recent visit to Bourg en Bresse. We were at the restaurant at 1:20 on a Saturday and asked to be seated when the waiter told us that the place did not have any available tables! I could see at least 3 tables in the inside and...
