We when this August based on trip advisor recommendation and after find other top choice fully booked. We had to wait cut within 20 minutes we were given a table. The food was slightly disappointing, the paella which my wife ordered was stew rice and certainly not paella. The good side the waiter service was friendly and attentive.

Enjoyable lunch on a very hot day but inside the restaurant was cool the set menu basque style was more than enough for lunch with a good local rose. We arrived at 12.15 about 1/3 of tables were taken by 1 pm it was full.

A nice place with many signs on main street to catch your attention. Serves a fixed menu or a la carte. Some dishes are tastier than others. The restaurant has a schedule on internet, but once in St Jean, it is open continuously from lunch to late dinner. However, if you come at 14:30, time after regular lunch hours (12:30-14:00),... Professional service, a bit cold however. Good local food reasonably priced. At last we were looked after very quickly and it's a performance in France in summer! Service afterwards was a bit slow but we were on holiday. If you are in a rush, do not go there. This place is another evidence that in some touristic spots, you need... More

A good standard restaurant with home-style cooking. We had the fixed menu which was cheap and cheerful but the bottle of local wine Txakoli de Bizkaia was extraordinary. The decor is real cute with loads of bullfighting paraphernalia, waiting staff were attentive and service was quick yet unobtrusive. All in all would recommend for a cheap dinner of acceptable fair.

I was traveling with a friend in the Basque country and neither of us were feeling all that great, having had colds, and we were a bit hungry. There were lots of restaurants around, and for some reason as we glanced down a small alleyway and saw a courtyard opening and the sign for Chez Theo, we were drawn to... More

The whole experience was the most Basque experience we had in our whole trip. From the smell, to the decoration, the food, the spices to the staff. Absolutely wonderful, nice seafood, nice PATE, nice wine, HOUSE WINE for very good value. MUST GO !!!

Just stumbled across this back street restaurant, drawn towards the local music and being away from the main drag. Sat outside and for a family of 5 was reasonably priced...kids enjoyed the paella...we enjoyed the local Rose wine served in a jug, which is so much cheaper than a bottle. Have to be honest waitress wasn't very helpful however did like... More

I went here before consulting trip advisor for local restaurants. This was the least interesting meal I have had so far. It was not horrible but it was just ok and touristy. The staff were not very friendly. The gazpacho was average - a tomato purée with a side of the chopped onions and peppers. The flavor part of the... More

Having not booked anywhere, we walked away from the busy Place Louis XIV into the old town side streets and stumbled on Chez Theo. It looked pleasant and had a good menu, with a more Spanish influence than some. We were given a warm welcome, and staff were helpful with the menu. A generous mixed french/spanish tapas plate to start... More
