We went there for the view, which was nice indeed, but the food was just terrible from start to finish. I can honestly say that this was one of my worst culinary experiences in France yet. Even Flunch is better, perhaps even McDonald's. An insipid fish soup followed by a watery cod dish and the crème brûlée was just that,... More

It was our huge mistake to step in. General welcome, after ordered we were served terrible meal. Every seafood-related dishes were disaster. Fish soup was tasteless. Next was a moules dish with awful smell, all moules had been freezed for days before cooked, so they were shrinked and smelly most, found many dead-smell ones. Surprisingly, after complained the waitress was... More

This is not the first time in St-Jean-de-Luz and we wanted to look at the sea side. I must say I was not impressed. Asked four times for a Karaf of water. It came. But no glasses. The mules tasted like just cooked in water. The main dish looked like from a cafeteria, then the dessert. I asked for vanilla... More

My wife and I enjoyed a very good dinner here last night with the good fortune of having a table next to a window that afforded us an excellent view of the sea. I had the Moules Mariner (mussels) which were obviously fresh, large and tasty followed by the Merlu filet (Hake) that was also well-prepared and delicious. We were... More

I do not like writing bad reviews and rarely do so.The worst meal we had in St Jean. We were tired and walked in. It is a lovely situation and the service was good. The starter of squid was tough and tasteless, the main course was overcooked salt cod. the desert was creme brulee - blink and you missed the... More

We are currently having a bit of a break from the normal Kruger Cowne travels and staying in Biarritz and visiting a few of the small seaside towns around the area before we shortly move on to Spain. Yesterday we went to Saint Jean du Luz which is a lovely old French fishing port only 30 minutes drive from Biarritz.... More

Had a diner with our friends and kids. Feelings are mixed. At the same time welcome was cool and friendly, but missed some professionalism. Service the same. Food as served in very large proportions, maybe a little too heavy for a diner (the parillada was huge, I mean really big). Bill was slightly overpriced, but you have the sea view,... More

I've stayed in this town many many times and I'm afraid this is yet ANOTHER Restaurant with the greedy owner they put more effort into seating people filling the place than they do in the quality and presentation, good or reasonable value. I paid 19€ for a salad that would be 2€ euro to produce "even with staff rent and... More

The food is typical of the restaurants in Rue de la Republique and is largely fish orientated. The location at the top of the road offers a great view of the bay of St.Jean de Luz, but a window seat can be a bit hot as it faces south. Good value in comparison.

Saint Jean de Luz is filled with side streets and little shops. We passed by this restaurant by accident and thought we should try it out. The staff were so friendly, a good atmosphere, and the food was good. I had the Carpaccio and it was fresh and light. My friend had a pizza, made on a super thin base... More
