Having been travelling across france for the last 4 weeks this is the first time I have felt like I have had a genuine French meal. The restaurant is quirky in that most dishes are cooked over an open fire in full view of the diners and the dishes are typically Borderlaise. I had the slow cooked lamb and loved... More

This place has a big open fire where the meat is cooked, and an open butchery area where you can choose it. The tables are basic, the seating is basic, and the menu is average. The food is tasty, the service friendly, and the atmosphere lively. It's just missing the edge of something....maybe it should be even more quirky, more... More

Booked a table here on the recommendation of rick stein. It was like he said cooked rustic, big meats, big flavours, simply done over a brazier. Be aware it really is rustic and the meat really is big. It's a real Bordeaux destination Restuarant and a bit quiet on the night we went. Would have preferred to sit near other... More

Staying in Bordeaux for a few days, the highlight of our trip was to go to La Tupina having seen Rick Stein's review on The Long Weekend. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. However, the food was very disappointing - for the prices charged we were expecting much more. There are many more excellent, reasonably priced... More

Having seen rick stein go crazy for this restaurant- we have to confess to disappointment. The menu is not large and the dishes are so complicated. And not cheap. We sat in a room full of English people. I had turbot which was nice but nothing special. The others ate kidneys or veal - with nothing to make the meal... More

What a lovely place to be wined and dined. Very rustic French surroundings, friendly welcoming staff from the outset. Cooking on the BBQ I could have watched all meal but we were seated around the corner. First class attentive service. Good selection of local produce and meat regional specialities available with wine to accompany it. Aperitifs to match and deserts... More

cooking over open fire, rustic and traditional decor. This is a trip back in time and an experience of old France. Food was ok, wine is not the best. It was a pleasant evening but overpriced. service is unusual ........

As 4 friends taking a break in this lovely city and having made a reservation in their Hotel opposite for Bed & Breakfast we had big expectations for this restaurant but were so disappointed. We booked for lunch. My husband ordered his "entree" which did not arrive, just gave him an alternative without any discussion or stating that his choice... More

Been looking to go here since seeing it on Rick Stein's TV series many years ago. Our waiter brought us bread with butter, cauliflower, radishes & some coarse patè as soon as we were seated. We ordered the cote de boeuf with fries ... fries were a little disappointing, however the beef was amazing & well seasoned. A 45€ bottle... More
