We were spending a week in Bordeaux and rented a house in the Bastide district which was just three tram stops from the centre, We were looking for a restaurant for a birthday dinner and was amazed when we came across this restaurant just a few streets away and within easy walking distance. For those staying in Bordeaux centre I... More

Spend a thoroughly enjoyable evening in this little restaurant on the other side of the Garonne from the main hustle and bustle of Bordeaux. A short cab or tram ride takes you to this 'restaurant gastronomique' with well thought out and executed dishes. Warm welcome, very good service, excellent food and perfectly matched wines. We had the five course tasting... More

L’Oiseau Bleu lloked interesting on Trip Advisor, so we thought we’d try.I’m glad that we did. The restaurant is in Stalingrad across the river from Bordeaux, so it’s a much quieter predominantly residential area. There is a tram stop nearby. We ate on the terrace, which was pleasant, though as the evening progressed, some more illumination would have been welcome.... More

The menu is not extensive but that is reflected in the originality and detail in the dishes. We started our meal with an amuse-bouche of monkfish tail on a flavoursome pumpkin mousse with a pumpkin seeds, it was a very good start to the meal. For starters I had carpaccio of veal, served with a salted crispbread, pickled and slow... More

L'oiseau bleu was recommended to me by a friend living nearby, and I was truly impressed by the quality of the food, the very professional and courteous service of the whole, often young, team. The fixed menu options offer great value for money and even if you are travelling on a budget, a complete lunch at 25€ doesn't set you... More

choose the St Valentine menu food was ok but definitely not in line with the price (140 euro per personn!!!) 1 of the wine served wasn't really exceptional at all. extremely expensive for what it is in terms of ambient/context/location I would definitely recommend going somewhere else

We booked this place in advance for a Saturday night as we were staying close by. Glad we did because it soon filled up. It started well, when we were asked if we wanted english or french menus and whether we wanted to speak french of English. So we treid French and they were very accommodating. The food was quite... L'Oiseau Bleu was recommended by local family members who'd frequented the restaurant and we certainly understood what they loved about the restaurant, situated just across the 13 arch bridge connecting central Bordeaux to the eastern side of town. A 12 Euro taxi ride dropped us off at the front door of the restaurant, where we found the pleasant decor populated... More

It is really one of the best restaurents in Bordeaux. I would probably recommend it to everyone who likes high cuisine. Little bit expensive menu but it worth it. You will see a tasty picture in your plate!

Really interesting menu and delicious food that were works of art. The staff were very attentive and can speak English if you want them to, or not if you want to try out your French. Pleasant surroundings and nice atmosphere, it was busy with many locals and a few tourists. Off the main tourist spots but easy to get to... More
