This was the place I visited in Bordeaux where the service was as nice as expected, food is pretty good l, you can go for set menu as well and wine list ok. Location is central and the place inside quite nice.

Charming, overworked young waitresses, so service rather erratic (eg given wrong starter, had to wait ages for cheese). Starter (Ceviche) good, main course (boeuf) poor. Wines very expensive as no picher available at weekends. 26€ for the formule. Wouldn't be tempted to return.

When we asked our local host where they’d recommend as a local eatery, L’Escorial was it. With a tasty-looking menu at a decent price all whilst being located in the middle of town make this place a good find. Moreover, their chef is known to source not only seasonal produce, but also on a day-to-day basis so their menu is... More

small restaurant in the countless alleys of the Bordeaux old town. Typical French 3 course set up with starter, plate and dessert to a reasonable price. U'll choose one of 4-5 interesting options of each group. All meals had been beautifully presented and all creations seemed to be perfectly set up. The available white wines had been a perfect match... More

We were a group of 8 looking for simple french food restaurant and came across this restaurant online so decide to book it. Food was good, beed slightly overcooked but it is great value for 3 courses meal. Our main disappointment was about service as there was only one waitress on Sunday evening for the whole restaurant which always left... More

Here nice food is served to reasonable prices. The food is simple but still exciting serving dishes from the traditional french cousine.

The bavette was what most steak frites dream of becoming. Caprese carpaccio and coffee cream dessert really nice as well. Some elements a bit on salty side for my personal taste, but ingredients combine nicely and most will not think plates oversalted. Nice ambience and friendly proprietor. Full menu with entree/plat/dessert and glass of house wine 24€

During our stopover in Bordeaux, we checked TripAdvisor for advice on where to eat. We opted for L'Escorial based on the facts that most of the negative reviews were given for really stupid reasons ("best rabbit I have eaten, but I wasn't comfortable because I'm English) and that it happened to be one of the closest to the bar we... I really wanted to like this place but overall, it was just mediocre. The starters and desserts were really good but the main courses were not. I was served lukewarm frozen fish with sub par lemony risotto. The service was very slow as well. The server brought out the main courses to half the table and then took another 10... More

Really enjoyed this restaurant in the university area of town. Reasonable prices and an excellent menu, good wine list with some wines available by the glass. Modern french food, lively service.
