Christmas Eve we ate here - considering the space it was half empty (I think we went to the third floor). Traditions setting and food, we had local wine and I had coq au Riesling as a main which was ok. Our waiter was ok but the other chap on our level seemed a little distant. Nice setting, but didn't... Food is quite good with normal prices, recommended the beef fillet with steamed potatoes. The service is impolite and careless and they don't speak English. The decoration is nice with wood and vitro windows, warm and cozy. Not very touristic although in the center preffered by French people.

Wow! We were beyond impressed with the food, service and atmosphere of this restaurant. It is warm, cosy and has a very homely feel. We had the pork knuckle which was tender and tasty, perfect for a winter night. Also recommend the salmon with potato cakes for something light. The food is cooked with lots of flavour and is just... In the allegedly oldest restaurant in Strasbourg, located in the centre of the old town close to the cathedral. The interior is needless to say very quaint, wood panelled and traditional, feeling very cosy. The menu has a good range of dishes, including many Alsatian specialities, the wine list also has a better than average range of choices. Food quality... More

We stayed at the Hotel Gutenberg and asked for a dinner recommendation for authentic Alsatian cuisine, not too fancy or expensive. This restaurant was quite close to our hotel and was exactly what we hoped for. My husband had the Choucroute and I had the coq au Riesling. They were both delicious and we enjoyed our waiter Michael. We are... More

Had a great meal. Service was good and food top notch "homey" cooking. Might be a little off putting due to tourist location but worth a try if it fits in your budget

Supposedly the oldest "winstub" (meaning "restaurant") of Strasbourg this restaurant has kept the traditionnal decoration (all in wood with gorgeous stained glass) The place is quite small, but it's really nice and warm We 've only had the traditionnal "flammekueche" and they were excellent ! probably among the best we had during our stay !!

Unpretentious, well priced & delicious. I highly recommend this place, especially if you only have a night or two in Alsace and want to get an idea of what the cuisine is all about. A must staple should be the choucroute which is excellently prepared. I ordered the coq au vin with spätzle. Made with Riesling as opposed to red... More

We came to the Strissel with a recommendation from our travel guide. Our table was reserved on the first floor, a beautiful historic dining room called the Zunftstube. We did not regret not to have been outside although the weather was great. All of us decided to have white asparagus (as per the season) with salads, sauce hollandaise and vinegrette.... More

Entered with my 25-year-old son, in this winstub on February 14th, 2016 at 6:30 pm, we went out of it at 7:15 pm. 1. Toilet doubtful, paper cleanliness being lying about on the ground although we are the first customers! 2. Settled back in the door, from the opening of this one, I was pierced by a current of cold... More
