Regularly come to La Roma with my family but this evening we fancied a take away. I phoned the restaurant to place our order and the waiter said they don't do take away's on Saturday, I was disappointed with this and I think I made it apparent so he asked what the order would be and I explained it was... Popped in today on the off chance looking for somewhere for lunch - was very impressed: the service was attentive and friendly from the start, we had a mixture of specials and main menu items. The black pudding and scallop starter was excellent and they did a Sunday roast with loads of roast beef. Very impressed with the choice, quality... More

We've lived in the village for about 8 years and I don't think the menu has changed in that time. We went mid week for a night off. There were no specials on. Whilst the food is ok the menu is stuck in the 90's. Its not fresh, exciting nor does it offer the sort of menu many other Italians... More

Decided to go to La Roma for a Friday meal, rang ahead to check they could fit a table for two, no problem we were told. Arrived and were told it would be a few minutes, not a problem with a nice bar area. Took about twenty minutes to be seated. Tables are a little close together, restaurant area is... More

Went on Easter Sunday with 5 family members from out of town, after raving about it I and the family where a little disappointed. The restaurant was not busy at all, however it took over 3/4 of an hour for our starters to come. The starters were ok, it then took at least another 3/4 before our mains came. I... More

We were five - two adults and three children for lunch. The restaurant was empty when we arrived roundabout mid-day. We were welcomed and shown to a table by pleasant staff. We all chose Italian food - we had been advised that it was better than the English menu. A Garlic Bread with tomato and one with cheese were starters.... More

Description
Riverside Italian with al fresco dining at Stoneclough, near Bolton.Stefano ran La Roma in Bromley Cross for 10 years and has now moved the operation to Stoneclough, near Bolton. It’s in a picturesque spot right next to the River Irwell and outside seating makes the most of the location. Expect classic Italian food prepared fresh to order with signature dishes like their Cartoccio Mushrooms, deep-fried mushrooms stuffed with pate and wrapped in filo pastry. It’s a large menu with lots of pizza and pasta choices and plenty of meat and fish mains with seafood a real speciality here. The wine list is all-Italian. La Roma is a relaxed and intimate venue, convenient for both Bolton and Manchester. It’s open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. San Marco in Blackrod is a sister venue.
