Firstly it was meant to be a nice evening out with family and close friends, inc a child . 6 of us in total for my birthday.
We asked for more time to decide as some of us were less hungry than others.
My partner...and I shared a banquet and were assured a particular starter was inc, turns out at the end it wasn't, therefore charged for it.
Ordered a round of drinks, jugs of water (small wine, dark fruit cider, normal cider and 3 cokes) outcomes one extra darkfruit cider and x2 missing cokes. This was brought to the waiters attention and his response was very RUDE and SNAPPY saying "well it's pored now and can't take it back so just have it" I asked if i would be charged and he assured i wouldn't. He then quickly ignored me, so i had to call another waiter over for the remaining cokes (We had the water at the end of the meal !!!).
The food came and was ok, but what we noticed was the FLIES !! We had two house flies buzzing around the table and several fruit flies, this made me question what state the kitchen was in?! how often they they clean?? and empty the bins !!!.
At the end of the meal the price was obviously disputed, this was met with RUDENESS and AGGRESSION which was beyond belief!!!
The waiter must of been going through some personal emtional trauma if he thinks correcting him on the drinks order is being disrespectful as he acused me of being rude from the start !
We were basically treated and spoken to like we were less than human.
I have been out socially many times before in the UK and abroad, but I have NEVER in my life encountered that sort of abuse from a restaurant. The manager was not available at the time and I can certainly guarantee he/she would not of put up with that behaviour from the staff !!
Very disappointing birthday meal !!More
The Royal Oak had an exquisite atmosphere, the staff were exceptional and polite, they adhered to all of my needs with professionalism.
Now onto the Indian inspired food, it was amazing, the meat I ate was perfect and the chips served had some of the...best sauce in Europe (yes I travel a lot) my partner shared the food with me, yet I felt full and satisfied at the end of the meal showing that they are not stingy with their portions.
I had ice cream for dessert which had been served in a coconut, the presentation was perfect.
I will be revisiting soon as they have plans to open a specialised dessert place, but not just for that I do also wanna revisit to see the amazing staff and lager (alcohol) this place withheld.
Overall I rate this place 10/10More
I ordered a vegetable curry, rice and nana with 3 poppadoms. I receive a curry of potato and the rice had green in it. No salad/onions/sauce with poppadoms, pervious restaurants automatically include this but when i complained i was told should have requested it. curry...was that terrible i just threw it in the bin. Should have made my own.More
I first was looking to go somewhere with my family to enjoy a tounge tasting spice packed indian for Christmas as this place does not only do a great up the market curry which is to die for it also does a christmas dinner I...couldn't belive my eyes!!
When me and partner nervously ordered for the first time we was on the edge of the couch waiting patiently for a car to pull up and our nostrils to be jam packed with great fragrance. It was just that... we ripped open the bag to find inside our prized curry
Carefully tipping in onto our preheated warm plates we was careful that we wouldn't loose a drop. Sitting down to our mid week treat we carefully took a spoonful and as it entered our mouths we was shaking in excitement
Let me tell you now it was the most satisfying experience ever ... the chicken was succlentent and seasoned with spice the sauce was perfection and just the spice I liked it a good bum burner. The keema special rice was packed with flavour and the naan was crisped just how we like it ... 5 star curry house we both paid for this experience how ever the next day as we had real ring sting !!! Defo go you will not be disappointedMore
Just got back from a fantastic evening at the Royal Oak to celebrate a birthday. We were well looked after and felt safe in the current situation. The food is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. It is not the first time we have...been here and wont be the last. Thanks to all at The Royal Oak.More
The foods nice no complaints there but the lager on draught is absolutely appalling, its flat and smells like rotten eggs and completely undrinkable!the waiter pulled a face when I mentioned this to him and requested another which wasn't much better then the 1st.I'd use here...a lot more if they allowed you to bring your own alcoholic drinks as I can't drink either of there choices of lager and enjoy a cold beer with my curryMore
First meal out since lockdown eased! Unbelievably friendly staff who went the extra mile and brought out a face mask after I asked for one, as Uber currently requires them to be worn.
Dealt with Naz, who brought us our bill, he was super personable...and chatted to us briefly about coming to a restaurant after lockdown, which I found really nice.
The food was delicious, chicken cooked perfectly in my masala and naan that was really flavoursome to go with it.
Will definitely be revisiting in the future!More
