We had a party of 13 for a sophisticated Hen Meal.. what a beautiful restaurant, the fairy lights were a lovely touch all around the restaurant.. all 3 courses were delicious.. I would most definitely return and recommend to friends. Also noticed Gluten Free options on the menu which is great for our family x

Our annual Christmas night out with friends took us to Restaurant Zest on Sadler Gate. We were late but they were very flexible and it wasn't a problem. Not a huge menu but that usually means everything is cooked to order. Food was excellent but the evening was made a success by our waiter Joe. He recognised that we were... More

We visited Zest in Friargate a few years ago and so enjoyed the food we returned this year with our department. Lovely new premises, really nice staff, BUT the food was not good. No Coulis with my Goats cheese, pork fillet dry, cherry zest mess a real let down with tiny bits of meringue in a slush of cream and... More

Me and the girlfriend visited for our 3rd anniversary, it was a number two choice, having not got into another restaurant, but they delivered a great meal and the lad service us that evening was brilliant. Very polite and professional. Love the decor of the place to. Will be coming back.

Ate here on a Friday night when we were in Derby doing our Christmas Shopping. ( we travel from Bedford every year to do this). Had a fantastic meal served by a delightful young man called Josh. I'm sure this young guy will go far. The food was very good. We will definitely eat here again in 2017

Firstly, the menu was one of the most uninspiring ones I've seen in a long time. The words left me dead for a choice. The only part to arise some mild interest was the Beef with a dauphinoise croquette and brandy and pepper cream sauce. They cover every base of meat type choice but my day's did it look boring.... Relaxed atmosphere, subtly decorated for Christmas with just the right amount of volume for the background music. Cocktails were fabulous (made by josh Morris). The menu choice was really good and my choices of haddock and prawn fishcake and pork were lovely. The cheesecake for dessert was one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted. The best thing... Some good, some not so good. Excellent goats cheese in a risotto that was rather like rice pudding. Very spicy, tender chicken breast but too many peppers accompanying it, needs some potato instead. Whatever you eat, ask to try the chef's home made mint yogurt. 5 stars! Have to say that my colleague thought his lamb main first class.
