We stayed at the County Hotel right next door to this fantastic place. We only visited on 3 occasions but the warm welcome we recieved from Barry the landlord and Julie was lovely. All of the Samuel Smiths ales are organic and as someone who normally drinks the usual tipples, I was pleasantly suprised at the flavour of beers without... More

I rarely write poor reviews but this place was a joke! The bartender from Newcastle was so rude! As a former bartender/server I was appalled by his attitude, when my international card didn't work he rolled his eyes and tutted and was very short. We were told we weren't allowed to sit in the bar area with our child, that's... More

Whenever we visit Gloucester Quays on a Sunday, we always head for this lovely place as we love its old world charm and I could enjoy a good ale. Since our visit in September the Sunday lunch has gone from fabulous to what I can only describe as a small amount of over priced processed slop on a plate. Considering... More

Lunchtime called and we saw this establishment with inviting boards out front. Upon entry we found multiple ground floor rooms with seating and tables, it was busy which should be a good sign. Reviewed menu and found out that popular dishes such as Fish & Chips had sold out. Made alternate arrangements and paid in cash as there was a... More

I found the publican to be most friendly and helpful particularly in explaining the different beers and lagers on offer in the Samuel Smiths range. The beer is well kept and served in good measure glasses allowing room for the head. The food was well cooked and served in an acceptable time especially as it was a busy period. The... More

A pub in an historic building serving an interesting range of food and drinks. Lots of strange little alcoves all over the place with a lovely garden at the back.

Nice unusual bar with a bar man with a very dry sense of humour who could probably get misunderstood but served us well a made us smile. Lovely selection of beers and unusual lagers.

Good food friendly welcolm on a Friday evening. Manager lit a fire for us all to keep warm and told us all about the history of the building. We reserved a table for lunch on Saturday as Gloucester was playing rugby. The pub was really busy and all the kitchen staff were very busy and doing their best. The manager... More
