Horrified by the queue for bettys we found palm court. Had a tasty ham and cheese rarebit each and a caramel shortbread and tiffin. Really really good with no pretentions

Just a short walk from the famous Bettys is the Palm Court Cafe. We came across this by chance and not being Bettys fans we decided to eat here and we are so pleased we did. We initially had a coffee on arrival in Harrogate but came back here for a light bite before we got back on our coach.... More

Popped in here for tea and cake. Excellent fruit loaf and good value at just over £5 for 2 teas and 2 slices fruit loaf. Quiet when we were in just before 4 on 4th January. Main critiscism is state of tables - the tops are well worn out and should either be replaced or covered with tablecloths as they... More

We went in here as an alternative to Betty's. Its not far off for walking back in time through their shop and the pleasant cafe on the first floor. Tea and toast was quite a bit cheaper than Betty's but that did not detract from the character of the cafe. Regulars came and went which is a good sign. The... More

I took my mum and sister for a coffee and cake while in town. The surroundings and ambience of the cafe was jovial and that was created by the staff's warm and welcoming into the establishment. This is definitely a must

On visiting the Harrogate Christmas market we tried Palm Court for lunch, we went early thinking we would beat the crowd, but unfortunately there was a queue down the stairs so went elsewhere. We decided to return before leaving Harrogate to have a coffee and cake, so glad we did. From the friendly waitress to the very reasonable prices we... More

Stopped here for a quick bite for late lunch. Very busy but young man controlling the people waiting was very good and chatted to you while you wait. Had the Yorkshire Rarebit which was very nice and other half had broccoli, Stilton and walnut soup. You're very conscious of people wanting your table but that could have been just where... More

Service quick, polite and attentive, plus always smiling. Food was great, soup and a sandwich for £6.50. Bargain. All sorts of teas, herbal and otherwise, always choice of coffees. Warm up and fill up in here, then downstairs into Farrars for great confectionary plus vary of weird and wonderful gifts.
