The Helm is by the sea, at the Quay in Westport. Nice location to unmissable views of south side of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick peak. By one of main gates to Westport House. Food is traditional Irish; good variety and fresh fish all year round. Pub and Restaurant...with live music too. Nice vibes, excellent and friendly service. So popular... More

It's not easy serving a party of 14 people but The Helm managed it superbly. All the staff are hugely helpful and could not have made the experience more enjoyable. And there was no rush to vacate the table. The food was delicious and the setting sun shone in brightly to light up the whole restaurant. Just great.

The place was busy on a Saturday evening and its in a nice location down by the Quays. The service was excellent despite the numbers. However, the food was disappointing and barely fair value. My wife had the salmon and felt it was a tired piece of fish despite its generous size. I had the cod goujons and again, instead... More

Food was disappointing, overpriced for the quality. Scallops served with a pile of heavy sticky mash and supermarket black pudding, chicken fajitas doused in sweet sticky sauce. Gimmicky decor in an overcrowded dining area, but service was friendly and attentive.

This seems to be a very popular spot - even on a Tuesday night in early May, it was a bit difficult to find a table for 4. However, once seated, we did not have to wait long to be served. There is a good choice of craft beer from the area and a broad array of food choices. We... More

This place never disappoints. I always rely on a visit here to eat the finest sea food straight from the nearby sea. Nowhere does mash like here and portions are huge. Still as popular as ever despite increasing competition locally which comes and goes. Full range of non fish meals available. I came home yesterday but dined twice during my... More

A warm welcome from this lovely bar and restaurant on the harbour at Westport. Ordered a toasted sandwich with red peppers and a sandwich with red onion came out. Was changed very promptly with sincere apologies- extra chips on the plate to make up for the error. Very friendly staff.

Popped in here for lunch yesterday and was absolutely blown away by the quality of food on offer, staff are all friendly and can't do enough for you, the steak sandwich and the dressing on the side salad are AMAZING, takes us over 2.5hrs to get to westport but I will definitely be back to eat here

Dined here with my family during a recent break away in Westport. Food was absolutely remarkable! From my young children right the way to my 80 year old mother everyone's tastes were met. Staff went out of their way to help with whatever they could. Will definitely return on our next trip to Westport
