From the moment i walked into the metropole I felt at home. The service was second to none and the fantastic bar staff made a foreigner like me feel at home. If you have come to visit Ireland make sure you visit this spot.

Very average little pub. Food was just ok.They do usually have good live music at night and the drinks are ok.

Stopped in for lunch, well it was close to 4pm, when I had some spare time in Kilkenny during a walk around of the city. The menu board outside advertised daily special of soup, beef sandwich and tea / coffee. Sounded good to me. I went in and ordered same before I noticed that there was no one else in... More

Visited back in June and it was mediocre. Food was subpar. Drinks were good. The only saving grace of this place was the live band. Oh and the free wifi. Also, don't stay in their accommodations upstairs. Just in case you were thinking about it.

Vegetarian quiche with salmon and chicken? No one in the place should have been an indicator of low value kip. Add rude barman/chef to this understaffed hole and you'll get the drift.

They probably have the least expensive food and drinks in town. The bar offers a limited choice menu that has different selections almost every night. It gets noisy at night when the crowd wanders in. Location is just off the main drag on the corner one of the alleys leading up hill.

the metropole pub high street kilkenny. The irish stew amount on the plate was not enough to feed a sparrow,2 pieces of tiny meat,2 carrots, one potato done in the microwave? The cost €10.95 If you are hungry, KEEP AWAY.OR you will end up lighter in pocket,And still hungry

This was a great little pub to sit in and have a drink and listen to the locals play authentic Irish music. We heard two guitars and two fiddle players play a range of music (some instrumental only and some singing). Some songs were traditional and some funny. "Pour me another Tequila, Sheila" and go to the Metropole for a... More

Drinks were a little expensive, but the music was amazing. We followed our ears to Metropole and we stayed for hours.
