called in for a quick drink with some friends and were insulted as soon as one of us asked the bar person to exchange a very flat lager . she told us that it looked fine to her and go elsewhere if we wanted special treatment because we were tourists . with that , we all got off our seats... More

Great little spot and atmosphere but the worst bar service I've ever experienced. the staff stood around chatting on race week!! I work in a bar myself and this wouldn't be tolerated. I've never had staff so unwilling to do there job, it was horrific. If you don't mind that there's great buzz here.

(20 year old male) Unknowingly, they didn't except card, but luckily I had time on my hands so I could make a quick trip to the ATM at my own leisure. (Withdrew 20) When I arrived back, the barman 'Tadhg' welcomed me with... More

Busy during ragweek or whatever new name they come up with for the week when students go on the tear drinking cheap beer. There can often be good deals on specific nights. Get's wedged during Race week in Galway. Even thought they eventually fixed the hole in the ground right inside the front door, the place hasn't changed too much... More

The Hole in the Wall is a great place, it reminds me of a country bar in the middle of town. Race Week and Donegal Tuesday are the biggest events in here (by which you will not get a place to stand or even be let in!). The vibes and atmosphere is great. It is a good destination for those... More

Reasonably priced beers and lack of decoration, most of it about horse races, it's the place to be if you are low 20 ' s.

Found this place after the Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Loved the name so we decided to stop for a pint. Only place in Ireland that we visited so far that did not properly pour a Guinness and it was served in a plastic cup. Very large college crowd arrived and at 39, I felt like the oldest in the place.... More

Not an "avoid-at-all-costs" type of place (I did survive, after all), but it does attract a certain type of clientèle.
