The 'Old Mill' is a hidden gem. At the top of some stairs lies what appears a pokey little restaurant - don't be fooled, this place is serving some incredible food!
We tried the Cajun chicken burger and the beef & ale stew, neither disappointed. Both arriving piping hot and the stew was incredible! (The chips were very salty so if you aren't into that make sure you ask for them without salt!)
The price was fair and actually a little less than surrounding venues, the staff all wear bright orange tops and are super friendly!
Go give it a go!

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Dublin was almost a ghost town on St Patrick's Day this year and it was hard to find someplace to have a good sit down lunch in the Temple Bar area. Luckily we saw the entrance to The Old Mill with only a small line of people waiting for a table and we decided to wait as well. Well worth the twenty-minute wait, we had the Irish Stew and Sheppard's Pie with a pint of Guinness as our last meal in Dublin. The meals were very good and the staff was very friendly.

We ate here on our first night in Dublin - and we kept going back! It doesn't look very inviting from the outside but inside it is designed like a traditional Irish pub with lots of memorabilia and Irish music - it's very cosy. We tried a variety of dishes, including Irish salmon, Irish Stew, Beef stew with Guinness, Irish chowder and fish and chips. All were really well cooked from quality ingredients and very well presented. The service was great and the staff were very helpful about making changes to suit dietary requirements.

Would have given this place 5 stars but the service let it down mainly as it's very slow. Even with 2 sometimes 3 people serving It's difficult to get anything with speed.
From asking for the bill it took 20 minutes and we had to ask a second time before we eventually got it.
Other than the service the place is def worth a visit. I had food envy watching everyones food arrive all around us.
The menus are not 100% clear about what youre getting and heres why:-
We orderd cheese fries and got a portion of fries with some cheese on top but betwen the cheese and fries was a layer half in thick of mayo that was not needed as a large side pot of mayo was provided. Way to much mayo and spent to much time scraping mayo off the fries. Taste was pretty good after that.
I ordered the BLT with fries in a basket and ordered extra chicken. The chicken that arrived for myself was very good and quite a bit portion but there was no mention the chicken was seasoned like a cajun chicken. For me not a problem but can imagine if you dont like this it is a problem. Surprisingly filling.
Lastly watch out as you will be over charged. We checked out the main menu as needed a vegetarian and ordered some food from it at 10.95 but was charged 12 euros for the meal because on a different menu they had the same meal was priced up differently.
Misleading and not good.
Overall we had a nice time here but if these few little things hadn't happened this could easily have been a 4 star place.

The food in this place is absolutely gorgeous!
Everything is home cooked and you could tell!
There were 6 of us eating and we all had different dishes and not one person had any complaints. Everyone said how lovely the food was and they wanted to come back. You can tell the restaurant is well known as people were queuing up the stairs to wait for a table.
We’ve been a few times now and my cousin won’t miss a meal here every time she comes to Dublin.
The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much for them, the location is also brilliant in the heart of temple bar (next to Quays bar)
Would 100% recommend and return!

We ate here in May 2019 before meeting with our guide and tour mates on a 9 day GAdventures tour of Ireland. Sorry for the delayed review.
The Old Mill was a few blocks from our hotel and offered and opportunity to enjoy some traditional Irish meals on our first days in Dublin. The atmosphere is certainly Irish or at least what I think of as Irish. We ordered the Bangers and Mash and the Seafood Chowder with soda bread, and drank Harp and Guiness. It was delicious and well worth a visit.

hello,
in the first place I want to say that the food was nice. What called my attention was how many times they tried to kick us out even though we had a 66euros bill (2 pax). they brought us the bill two times. We had our meals and drinks and after 2 hours they asked us whether I wanted the drink I had ordered minutes ago. I said I did. The waiter insisted on asking whether I wanted it, because 'in 10 minutes they needed the table'. I think it is rude, sorry.

This place is a must when visiting Dublin. Excellent food, great staff a and fantastic atmosphere. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and I can recommend the fish & chips and the bread & butter pudding for dessert. This restaurant does get busy so you may have to wait to be seated

We had read great reviews about this restaurant, so decided to try it after a long day of travel. They treated my friend's major food allergy very casually, which made us very nervous. We ordered the steak (26 euros) and received a very tough piece of meat. Not at all what we expected for the price. The restaurant was also quite tacky with large TVs everywhere showing close-ups of the food. Not an appealing atmosphere at all. We were really disappointed.

A very busy restaurant. We tried to go here on Thursday night and noticed there was a long queue so booked to return on the Friday. I recommend booking otherwise you can be stuck in the queue for hours waiting outside.
The menu was varied with loads of authentic Irish dish options to choose from. We opted to go for the salmon and prawn pasta and it was incredibly tasty.
This is a restaurant that seats and serves quickly so if you are looking to have a relaxing meal this is not the restaurant. Tables are positioned very close to one another but adds to the jolly atmosphere found within.

We visited the Old Mill on Saturday evening.
The table was booked for 6.30pm and we were shown to our table.
We ordered a bottle of wine, 2 pints of beer and food for four people.
However, after eating our food my wife and her friend still had 1/3 of the wine remaining and therefore myself and our friends partner, asked to have 2 more pints of beer to the server, whilst the remaining wine was finished.
We were told by the server no you can’t have any more drinks and we needed to hurry up and finish our drinks so the table could be used.
In total we had the table for 50 minutes.
The restaurant should not be selling bottles of wine, if you are not given the time to drink it. To say we felt rushed is an understatement and to be refused a drink because they want to use the table for the next customer, even though we had finished is a strange way to run a business.
There should be a clear sign to acknowledge that you have a time slot for your table to customers. The restaurant appears to have a fast food style approach to dining and as soon as you have eaten your are no longer wanted.
I have never felt so rushed to get out of a restaurant and this was a hugely disappointing experience of an otherwise fantastic trip to Dublin.

We went here for dinner on a Friday night, looking for traditional Irish food and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Very reasonably priced, great value for money. Only improvement would be the use of space, it's a small place with lots of tables so felt a bit cramped at times. Would recommend booking a table

After reading the other reviews I had high hopes, I was disappointed.
No atmosphere, no nice staff only 2 miserable looking guys who made no effort with any interaction so no idea where the great staff were that past people raved about. My drink was incorrect from the one I ordered but we had waited a while so I couldn't be bothered saying anything. I had the stew but I found the beef quite dry. Partner had fish and chips which he said were okay.

This place was incredible. There are tons of menu options to suit any dietary needs. Was very impressed that the waiters spoke several different languages and were able to accommodate all the guests. I got the steak and it was perfectly cooked and they even let me swap fries for an amazing side salad. Very impressed!

We popped in here to eat around 5:30 on a Sunday evening and immediately got a table.
Service was good - staff were attentive but not overbearing. Staff were very friendly.
Food was excellent- highly recommend the Dublin Cobbler!
The only annoying thing (which we didn’t pick up until we got home) was that we were charged €17.95 for my sons fish and chips - we had ordered the kids meal for him but they’d charged him as an adult (he is only 7 years old so unless the kids meals are only for 6 and under? But this wasn’t advertised and wasn’t mentioned when we ordered off the kids menu for him).
