It was a weird but enjoyable experience in Hughes Bar. We arrived at 8.45pm on a Tuesday night, and it was just us and the barman. He was really friendly, and we had a long chat about a lot of things. He said there would be a "session" later, which we found it hard to believe. Sure enough, just before... More

Friday night is snug music night. Really enjoyable & hi-quality performances from local musicians. They even let me sing in Scots Gaelic!!! Great beer & whisky selection too.

This place must be a local secret. The perfect end to our 10 day trip. Very quiet and cozy. Warm, welcoming atmosphere, with neighborly staff. But, clearly the best music of our trip, in a wonderfully intimate setting.

This bar was just how I imagined Ireland. If you want to feel like you are actually in Ireland I recommend having a few beers at this place while listening to the local music. Flutes, bagpipes etc and great company. Bartender was conversational, it was very quiet but just what we were looking for. Would not recommend for youth or... More

it's a few minutes walk from the touristy Temple Bar area, so here is your chance to see how typical pubs look like (well, be careful what you wish for, it may surprise you). The place is less crowded. Late in the evening there live music, but by live I mean live like in no amplifiers. There are some people... More

My favourite pub in Dublin. Family owned and run. Great home cooked lunches. No fancy extras on anything just good service, great Guinness, and decent prices. No annoying TVs blasting sport or news, no jukebox, no gimmicks. A pub for pub's sake. Well worth visiting.

Called in here for dinner at 1pm only to be told that all the main courses on the lunch menu were finished. Strange that! Settled for a club sandwich which was nice.

Popped in on monday night (February 23rd) and there was very few guests (probably because of the extremely bad windy and rainy weather) Me and my friend was invited to sit in the snug with the musicians as the only two listeners. We were offered sandwiches and even to join in on the music. We had one of the best... More

I'm surprised Hughes' Bar doesn't have an entry on Trip Advisor yet. It's a well know local bar around the Market area of Norht West Dublin Inner City. There's nothing fancy about this bar - so don't come with any high expectations of cocktails, waitress service and Gastro menus. They just dont do them. But what they do provide is... More
