About
Since it opened in 2002, Rocpool Restaurant ha become an effervescent Inverness brasserie with a loyal fan base. A cool contemporary decor with lots of bare wood and bold colours give a buzzy vibe to the restaurant which is situated in a prime site on the banks of the River Ness. The kitchen has a repotoire of eclectic modern dishes which use Scotland's matchless produce sprinkled with Mediterranean sunshine, plus a pinch of exotic spice here and there.

I really enjoy the Rocpool for lunch. Their 2 course menu for £30 never disappoints. It changes regularly and all the dishes we’ve tasted have been very well cooked.
Their decent wines by the glass are £15, so £60 a bottle which feels a bit high but that’s my only complaint.
Service is very welcoming and attentive

Went here after receiving vouchers for my birthday went at lunchtime you need to book as it’s very busy but service still excellent and not rushed . There is a set lunch menu or open menu which we ordered from I had scallops then beef both delicious my Husband had trout then halibut again both delicious and served beautifully. Can’t find any fault food , service and even toilets all fantastic would recommend but is on the expensive side but worth every penny for the treat 👍

This was my first visit with friends who had been before and their recommendation was not wrong.
A stylish place with views over the river and sublime food.
The scallop starter was a highlight but every dish was simply superb
Great friendly staff only added to the occasion.
The early evening menu is good value but we mixed it with the main menu, not cheap but great for a special night out.

The Rocpool fancies itself as an upmarket restaurant & the prices certainly reflect that. However, if you are prepared to pay a little bit above the average restaurant prices then you will be treated to some of the best food you will find in Inverness. Our dishes were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. This was without doubt the best food we had during our one week stay in Scotland. Some of the furniture/flower arrangements in the restaurant seemed a little dated but when you experience food this good then who really cares about the decor! I would strongly recommend this restaurant but I would also advise reserving a table in advance because it also seems to be extremely popular.

My favourite restaurant in Inverness having visited it on several occasions. There is real innovation and skill with the dishes offered. I started with the fresh soup £8.95 which was a deep flavoured spicy tomato with home made brown bread. As I am not a fan of desserts, I opted for another starter and what a great idea as the Isle of Skye white crabmeat salad with chopped seedless water melon, toasted pomegranate seeds and a cream of avocado £18.95 was a culinary masterpiece. However the Seafood linguine surpassed even these dishes as the perfectly cooked pasta (slight crunch) drizzled with chilli oil was a superb foil for the delicious queen scallops and fresh prawns which adorned the plate. An excellent 2019 Montepulciano was a lovely accompaniment.
Another hugely memorable meal at this superb restaurant.
Service was terrific as my booking for one was accommodated on the same day with the only proviso being the 6.30pm start rather than 7.00pm

Visited Inverness for a day out, and after checking online, i decided to book Rocpool for lunch. It’s a good job, not only this restaurant but a lot of places were busy and quickly filled up. We ordered from the 2 course fixed price menu, my partner is veggie, there really was only one option for him, this was no problem as the food was delicious. I genuinely can’t fault anything - we ate at 12pm, i didn’t eat another thing for the rest of the day, the food was wonderful and the portion sizes were deceptively big (we did get a dessert to share as well). it’s not inexpensive, but i feel we got great value for money and the staff were very friendly. Great wine list as well - i will absolutely go back.

Rocpool is a fabulous restaurant. In my opinion, the best in Inverness. We had the lunch menu and could fault nothing. Delicious parsnip and apple soup, wonderful butternut squash risotto with goats cheese and to follow we both opted for the smoked haddock with a perfectly poached egg. We finished with coffee that was served with a very generous piece of yummy homemade tablet. Finally, the staff and service were amazing and the atmosphere was super relaxed. Well done Rocpool, you are fantastic.

Very welcoming place attentive staff, bit noisy for me but was very busy.
Food choice okay but could do with a couple of "plain meals on the menu for those with sensitive digestion.
Found it expensive, but was a treat for a Birthday, sadly the Birthday Girl didn't fancy anything on the menu so Fish and 6 chips done for her @ £25.00.
Very tasty food but not the best I have had .

Another 5 star meal at Rocpool restaurant this week. Food and staff were excellent, always a professional, fun experience. Had crab soup and spicy lentil soup as starters, then the seafood linguine and the steak dish for mains. Sweets were sublime. Looking forward to our next visit in 2025. Well worth booking if you are visiting the Highlands.

This was our third visit to Rocpool, and it didn’t disappoint. Once again the food, the ambiance and the staff were fantastic. It’s definitely not cheap but it’s worth every penny. The beef carpaccio was melt in the mouth, the ceviche of tuna was delicious and the scallops were sublime. The mains of Scotch fillet of beef tagliata style was just divine and perfectly cooked and the Scoth fillet Surf & Turf was superb . The raspberry & pistachio tart dessert was delicious. We also tried the South African straw wine and that was divine. We will definitely be returning.

We stayed in a nearby hotel and not without difficulty booked a Thursday dinner in this restaurant, which incidentally, is mentioned by Michelin. It is situated on the ground floor on the corner of B861 and Ness Walk. Can’t remember much of the decor except we had a table by the window. Staff was quite numerous, polite and attentive. For a starter I had salmon gravlax, which was exquisite. My wife chose crab salad into which too much chopped shallot was put at the expense of other flavors like curry mayonnaise and crabmeat itself. For the second I had grilled halibut while my wife had monkfish stir-fry. Both were excellent, perhaps a touch too salty. Pinot Grigio went well with both. A waiter should remember though, to pour it coming from behind me, not just in front of my nose. We had espresso macchiato to finish it off. With a bottle of water and a glass of prosecco each at the beginning it was £144. All together a very nice evening. The food was nicely presented, fresh, full of various flavors but perhaps lacked the element of surprise.

The reviews were very good, but based on the menu alone, I didn't have great expectations, but they were clearly exceeded.
Classic haute cuisine with very good, fresh scottish ingredients, excellent service and a really exceptionally good wine list - big, big compliments to the Sommeliére from South Africa.
It's not surprising that Rocpool was more than full on a Thursday evening. Make sure you make a reservation!

Have eaten here several times in the past with no problems but not tonight ! Food was good as always and staff were pleasant and polite until the manager/ owner came to our table and presented us with the bill and reminded us of the two hour time limit . Ordinarily I would not have minded this except for the fact we had not been offered the opportunity to have a sweet or a coffee after our main course . The service had been slow which should definitely not have been the case when paying these prices to then effectively be asked to leave in a rude manner without the opportunity to have a full meal . For the first time ever we did not leave a tip and will definitely not be back .

My husband and I went for dinner on our last night in Inverness after it had been recommended to us.
The food was well presented and delicious however we were disappointed by the service we received.
After arriving we were left waiting to order both our drinks and food until we attracted someone's attention. Whilst we could appreciate how busy the restaurant was, it seemed that we were continually overlooked.
My husband was also underwhelmed by his dessert especially the honeycomb ice cream which did not taste of honeycomb.
Our dining experience sadly meant that despite the quality of the food we ended up feeling let down overall.

Not entirely sure why this restaurant gets top reviews. To start of with It was extremely cold inside.
The view: if you’re not sitting at the 2 tables that overlook the river then you’ve lucked out!
Food -
Starter: salmon terrine was tasteless and the arancini tasted strongly of the oil it was cooked in.
Main: the beef cheek was cooked well however it was overpowered by sweetness and overall quite sickly.
Second time I’ve been here, the first being with my work and I didn’t enjoy it then either.
Overpriced for what it is! Don’t think I’ll bother with trying for 3rd time lucky .
