Great place to have freshly cooked fish and seafood in Inverness, I was there a few years ago and have tried a few times to get a table 'on spec' without success because of it's popularity. However I've been there twice in the last 6 week looks we will be going there for any special occasions from now on. The standard... More

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main town centre but within easy walking distance, if you like your seafood, this venue is a must! Very well presented and cooked to perfection. A very tasty and satisfying meal, with portion size leaving you content but not stuffed. The table next to me had the oysters, which looked amazing!... More

My boyfriend and I came in for dinner on a Wednesday night. It is quite small (But still lovely and cosy!) and very busy, so we were lucky to get a table. The open kitchen gave a great atmosphere and first impression. The staff were very friendly and attentive; as soon as we had sat down they told us about... More

The restaurant is cozy without being cramped romantic and elegant. The staff are wonderful. Friendly and accommodating and know their regulars. The wine menu is superb with excellent choice price range and the wine we had was stunning. The food. There were two menus one which was a two course menu which I drooled over. Almost ordered. But I couldn't... More

Waitress was very attentive but was told when she came to collect plates that the risotto was undercooked (it was still crunchy so the flavour of the crab was lost). When we went to clear up the bill, she was asked what was being done about the risotto and the owner/manager came to the table and very rudely told us... More

Firstly, may I thank you for taking the time to set up a Trip Advisor account and review my restaurant. Although saddened at your disappointment, (as customer satisfaction is of the highest priority to me), my recollection of the evening is entirely different to yours. Without entering into too much detail, your behaviour was what I and my waitress can... More

Fantastic choice of dishes, predominantly fish, but other choices available. All products sourced locally. Service was excellent with waitress showing a good knowledge of the dishes. Chef/owner mingled with guests looking for comments, and ensuring everyone was happy. Excellent wine list with some unusual offerings. Definitely not our last visit here

As we live on Skye we wouldn't normally go to Inverness for an evening out and anyway we have some very good restaurants of our own on the island but unfortunately, in February, many tend to be closed! My wife and I both had our 65th birthdays earlier in the month and wanted somewhere special for an evening meal to... More

In Inverness for a weekend so we booked a table for the Friday evening. Every course was well cooked and very enjoyable and service was good. We enjoyed it so much that we booked a table for the following evening for 8.30. We arrived at 8.20 and were told to come back in ten minutes as our table was not... More

On our first evening in Inverness we booked a table at this restaurant, having read a number of good reviews. We were not disappointed, the food for all four of us was very good and the service also excellent. We all had fish and we enjoyed it very much.

Predominantly fish restaurant. £10 for starters and £20 circa main meals. I've had better food elsewhere. Can't say I was overly impressed. Dessert of brownie was nice. Once the heating went off in the restaurant it was chilly.

Description
For an authentic taste of Scotlands islands and Highlands look no further than River House, a beautiful restaurant on the banks of the River Ness overlooking the Grieg Street bridge to the Free North Church. The restaurants spectacular views are complemented by the casual sophistication of the dining room, a comfortable and unpretentious space with timeless design and a warm, cosy atmosphere which invites you to relax and really enjoy your dinner. Dedicated to sourcing the best possible ingredients from the surrounding areas, the River House kitchen cooks each dish to order in the open plan kitchen, using fresh, seasonal produce prepared in such a way that individual flavours shine through. Though mainly Scottish in heritage the River Houses recipes also take inspiration from international cuisine with, in particular, a nod to French cookery woven in to many of the creative, modern dishes. Wines are carefully selected to complement the River House menu, providing a good, but not overwhelming, choice of labels.
