The food was excellent. We had the wee mussel starter, then lamb burger and haggis, neeps & tatties as a main. We had two delicious pints and found the food to be great. Our waitress insisted that we try a whiskey sauce with the haggis, which wasn't anything spectacular. When the bill came, we were surprised that, such a tasteful... More

Celebration meal with friends, one of whom was a vegetarian. Great choice for everyone...enjoyed every mouthful. Pork was fantastic...could have eaten it with a spoon. Attentive service without being intrusive...and v welcoming of our comments.

I had the Korean Chicken Breast with Kimchee, Peanut Butter sauce and sticky rice - it was GORGEOUS! The portion was a wee bit small I thought, but nevertheless loved it.

Haven't been here for years - seems to have expanded but still a real pub atmosphere. Upstairs is really quite 'couthie' and has a nice 'feel'. The fish and chips were excellent, the service genuinely friendly and overall good value.

Tried the restaurant downstairs in Stravaigin all I can say is it was truly outstanding. The haggis starter and complementary hot sour dough bread were delicious. Both the duck and pheasant main courses were amazing and perfectly balanced with flavours every mouthful was an absolute treat. The dessert of chocolate and caramel fondant didn't last long enough for me to... More

It's one of these places that is trendy for nit being trendy I find the place all a bit of a contradiction really, but that said it packs the customers in, gives them a drink and a good feed. I've never had cause to complain about Brunch Lunch or Dinner in this place and keep going back for more. Somehow... More

Ambience fine, staff ok, food so so for the money. I had nasi goreng and it was awful. My friend had a burger that was grossly overcooked. Desert was pleasant enough. I had expected better.....

Description
Stravaigin is old Scots for 'wander', a word that nicely encapsulates the restaurant's ethos. Both the menu and dcor evolve; there's a wonderful creativity about this West End favourite. Locally-sourced ingredients are used to create imaginative international dishes such as Indonesian pork balls with vermicelli noodle jam jar salad. For something closer to home, try the haggis - recently voted the best in Scotland. The subtly dark, leather- wallpapered basement restaurant shares a menu and nautical theme with the less formal caf bar above. Service is informal yet informed. The staff know the menu and wines inside out and are adept at keeping cool under pressure, especially during the pre-theatre scrum. Exciting , affordable food without the foodie formalities.
