We used the offer (3 tapas & 2 cocktails/bottles of beer for £20per person) which was a great deal. Lovely meal for both a meat eater and a vegetarian. Ladies serving were helpful in recommending dishes. Paella did take a while to come (we had eaten most of our dishes before it arrived!) however it was definitely worth the wait. Will definitely recommend to friends and visit again next time we are in Glasgow

Had a fab lunch/leaving do here yesterday. My colleagues had booked us a long table for 20 or so of us to ‘celebrate’ my leaving work. The staff were fabulous, very attentive and professional. We all had a deal which included 3 dishes each and two cocktails and it worked so well. The food was delicious and generous portions made it more filling than we had expected! I had the black crepe with squid, halloumi and chilli jam as well as a chicken and vegetable paella. All of it was cooked to perfection and everyone was really pleased with their lunch. The cocktails were lovely and great value. I had a lovely afternoon with all of my lovely friends. I will certainly be back.

Lockdown has deprived us of many things including our ling awaited return to Cubatas. Ok, things have changed and yet stayed much the same. The decor remains hmm exactly the same, not very Spanish at all. But just ignore, it's not important. We know why they we are here. There is a new menu and a special offer of three tapas and two cocktails for £25. After a week in London, I was almost confused by the pricing but it was good to be home. We selected the lamb meatballs which came in a light mushroom, onion and carrot stew. Oh boy, succulent and tender and scoffed. At the same time out goats cheese salad with beets, a cucumber, apple and walnuts arrived. With the cheese slightly toasted everything came together in a beautiful meld of sweet and tart. I could and will eat this again. Dish three and almost half way there but here comes the chorizo and apple empanada which with chichiru. I have to say was my dish of the night. Beautifully light pastry surrounding a light and tasty filling. More, just give me more. The second half compromised batatas bravas which came with a choice of dips, freshly cut and fried to perfection. And oh so nice. Deep fried halloumi with a beautiful tomato marmalade, follow d by a lamb rack with mustard, mint, squash and onions completed the night. Or so I thought. My wife decided that churros with a white and dark chocolate dip was required. And as expected she was spot on. We cannot praise this place highly enough. The staff were attentive and interactive, the food as good as we have eaten anywhere and the best part, apart from value, it's ten minutes from our house. We walked away more than satisfied having spent less than half we did in a similar but poorer restaurant in London last week. Cubatas has been called a hidden gem. It is, absolutely is. Help bring it into the light. It has simply stunning food that deserves a bigger audience. As ever we always say the test of a restaurant is whether we would come back. No brainer. Tomorrow is too soon I suspect but still...

Went for a meal with my wife with a voucher which was excellent value. Greeted and sat down promptly. Given menus and offer explained; all good so far. We ordered food and drinks from the offer and some extra olives. Drinks arrived but had to ask for olives which eventually came. Place wasn’t overly busy for a Friday night but it seemed to take an awful long time for anything to arrive (30-40 minutes). The staff were very pleasant but didn’t not ask us if we wanted any more drinks or approach us again. Our food arrived sporadically which was fine, however the quality was poor. We had chorizo and mushroom croquettes which were very greasy over cooked and had little to no chorizo in them. The chilli king prawns were also very greasy, overcooked and bland although spicy. The halloumi sticks were served with a very sickly sweet dip that was inedible. The worst by far were the lamb meatballs which were overcooked, bland, possibly reheated, glutinous and frankly we couldn’t eat them. Our goats cheese salad did not arrive and when we asked for it the waitress asked us if we still wanted it. We said we did and it was actually quite satisfactory. We quickly asked for the bill and left. At no point did the waitress ask us if everything was ok or whether we were enjoying our meal. I suspect it was because they knew what we were served was wholly inadequate.

With lofty bold claims of being the 'finest Spanish restaurant in Glasgow' and 'Scotlands best tapas bar', I had really high hopes of some spectacular food at this venue. Sadly this was not the case. There is a distinct difference between a few drinks and acceptable food and 'the best'. Cubatas is most definitely the former. I ordered paella (pictured), a mainstay of any Spanish restaurant and or tapas bar and it was truly quiet grotesque. I am almost sure this was cooked en mass in a pot or pan and then placed into a 'paella dish' before serving as it couldn't possibly have been cooked in the pan it was served in as it should have been. Socarrat, the crispy and authentic burnt bottom, full of flavour and taste was non existent in this paella, instead it was soupy and flavourless, more like a risotto than the Spanish rice classic. I was genuinely shocked it was served as a paella. No slice of lemon and sprinkle of parsley could save this horror show. The Gambas dish (prawns) were generally OK, tasty and well sized, but we received only 3 prawns in the dish which for the price was frankly unacceptable. I enjoyed the chorizo and Churros though I was underwhelmed with everything I tried with the absence of seasoning and Spanish flavours from dish to dish. I didn't enjoy the outdoor setting, with a lack of music or atmosphere but I wont discredit them for creating an outdoor space in a small street in Glasgow. Service was good and prompt, so marks for that. Paella aside, nothing was terrible, but I will say with certainty that better tapas and Spanish food can be found a few streets away, let alone in Glasgow or Scotland as per the marketing speak of the restaurant. Best avoided.

Haven’t ever written a bad review before as it would take a lot however the food in here was dreadful. It was quiet yet took at least 45 mins for food to arrive even though we order many dishes and were told it would arrive as it was cooked nice and fresh. This didn’t happen. The paella was dried and shrivelled up, the two mussels on it were closed and inedible leaving me questioning the rest of the dishes . Very disappointing

My Wife and I had booked for 18:00hrs, we arrived and were greeted by a pleasant member of staff and shown to our table. We ordered six tapas from a varied menu and wine. Service time was perfect and taste and presentation of the food was first class. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant was great along with ambience and atmosphere. Price for six tapas and four large wines was £67 which I consider great value. Well done to the manageress who I spoke to and who clearly cares for customer satisfaction So if you are looking for a nice relaxing night out to eat great food in cosy surroundings, I recommend this place

Been coming here for about 7 years now: consistently great atmosphere, staff and food. For this trip we phoned and asked if we could pick food up instead of sitting in and that was no problem at all. They estimated when it would be ready and as i live 15 mins away offered to give me a call 15 mins prior to it being ready. The food was packed well and most importantly tasted great.

Visited for the first time to use an itison voucher. Included in the deal we had a glass of sangria each and shared chicken paella, chorizo and mushroom croquettes, chilli king prawns, lamb meatballs and potatas bravas. We also added the black crepe. All dishes were really nice and good sizes for two to share. We were the only table in at the time which we assumed was due to it being a midweek lunchtime but I could imagine it having a good atmosphere at busier times. The service was good.

Great reviews on TA so maybe our experience was unusual. Arrived 7pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. Staff were very nice (although interestingly none appeared to speak Spanish) and we were promptly taken to our table. Menu wasn’t as extensive as I had hoped for so we ordered artisan bread and olive oil, seafood paella, chicken paella and vegetable paella. The bread was 3 slices, cut in halves, of an ok bread. All the paellas were pretty tasteless with very little added to them. Seafood paella had 4 prawns and 2 mussels. They were all quite stuck to the cast iron dishes. I had ordered a mojito (£10) which was extremely sweet. The server was pleasant and took it away to have another one remade without the shot of sugar, which was better. They make it with lemonade rather than soda water. Very little ambience. Just very disappointing unfortunately.

Very tasty and we really enjoyed our meal! Delicious freshly made cocktails too. The gluten free dishes are marked on the menu and the waitress made sure anything that is fried was fried separately. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon as we were the only table in the restaurant.

We visited for the first time last night and we’ll definitely be back! The menu is quite small which was perfect as we didn’t feel overwhelmed with choice however there was enough variation to keep everyone happy. The portion sizes are great - 3 plates each was plenty - and the food is amazing. From presentation to taste, there were absolutely no faults. Service was fab….our waitress was lovely and attentive, always making sure we had what we needed - she even came out with a mocktail for the sober birthday girl which was such a nice touch ❤️ We sat outside and it was lovely. Plenty space between tables and a great, happy atmosphere. The terrace is covered and the heater is a great addition which was definitely welcomed later on. It’s a hidden gem of a place….maybe too hidden, as it was fairly quiet inside. I’ll now make it my mission to recommend Cubatas at every opportunity!! Thanks for a fabulous night 😊

We went for an early bird last night Positives Lovely friendly attentive staff couldn’t have been nicer Lovely fresh soft bread served with nice olive oil and vinegar Nice prawns in sizzling oil Delicious but over salted patata bravas wort lovely aioli and sauce Lovely bottle of red wine Negatives The whole place was lacking in atmosphere and quite dreary and depressing both outside and inside The food on the whole was incredibly over salted to the point of giving a sore burning mouth The black pudding dish was inedible and tasted oddly of curry. The vegetarian croquettes sounded lovely but tasted of nothing couldn’t eat them. The chicken tapas was again so salty hard to eat. The most anticipated dish was a mixed fried seafood plate which was so disappointing. Over fried too and strange seasoning and again too salty to eat such a shame. They were very kind in the restaurant and gave us 50% off from our meal which was thoughtful. We can’t recommend this place

I ordered vegetarian paella and got chicken. Had to send it back, I wasn’t sure if it was being replaced as the communication with staff was poor. The patatas bravas were burnt and tasted like charcoal. I pointed this out to the waitress and showed her how hard they were and could have easily broke my tooth. All she said was she’ll make sure it never happens again. No chef should ever serve burnt food. I eventually got my paella which was very bland, there was no taste or kick to it. My own recipe is better. However the mushroom/spinach courgettes were nice. The staff were nice & friendly but very slow. Took ages for a drink and when they brought them over they didn’t clear away the empty glasses. The place was reasonably quiet. The men’s toilets were out of use so people had to share. Didn’t help a mask was in the toilet pan. I found the toilet pan/bowl quite dirty, toilet lids were broken in both cubicles. The floor was soaking wet. Unfortunately I won’t be back here, I did not have a nice experience at this tapas restaurant.

Cubatas beautiful downstairs function area was recently the venue for my daughter's 21st birthday party. From start to finish they handled the booking professionally and everything was exactly as arranged. They arranged delicious Paella and tapas for 40 people for our buffet and stored and cut the special birthday cake we brought. I would highly recommend this venue for any private event and the layout of the room would work with various sizes of group
