Excellent Lunch at a realistic price.

Visited with my wife and son and we all enjoyed the two course set menu for £9.99. This also included a very fresh mixed salad served from the buffet by the waitress due to Covid-19 restrictions. The starters of Cheese nachos and soup of the day [ tomato & basil ] were excellent. We all opted for the Whitby Scampi with chips and mushy peas. My wife and I have recently reached the milestone age of 70 and can honestly say that the Scampi was the best we have ever experienced ANYWHERE. Fish was moist and the bread-crumb was crisp, as it is meant to be. However it was no great surprise that the cost of a pint of rather average draught lemonade and blackcurrent was more than £3.00. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Covid-19 measures were in place and enforced. As is now the norm payment by contactless bank card is encouraged. We followed the advice and asked for a gratuity to be added to our bill only to be advised that this would be credited to Harvester [ Mitchell & Butler] and NOT the staff. We had no cash on us so I went out to our car, found some paper money [ obviously not sterilised] came back in and took time to reward the deserving attentive staff. This is something that the management could address to keep them in line with others.

This was our first time eating out since the lockdown. For a couple who used to eat out 3 or 4 times a week we were so excited. I booked my table on line a week ago but on arrival realised we'd qualify for the £10 off each main meal. We were politely asked to sanitize our hands on arrival, shown to our table and the manageress explained the new procedures to us. Drink and food orders were taken by the lovely Mags. She has a great knowledge of the menu and helped me choose. We went to the buffet where a lovely young man picked our choices for us (I think this should become a permanent feature, more hygenic). Salad was delicious, as always. Our started duly arrived, calamari and potato skins. Main courses were Blue Burger and the surf and turf wrap. I'd recommend the wrap, especially if you like peri peri sauce. HOT!!! We couldn't resist dessert, 2 ice cream sundaes followed, oh and free refills of juice. The waiting staff couldn't do enough to make our visit an enjoyable one. Mags you are a credit to The Harvester, Hillington. If you are at all dubious about eating out here, don't be. The attention to detail in cleaning the tables and surrounding areas was of a high standard. To all staff, keep up your good hard work. We will be back, soon. Xx

My wife and I had booked a table due to being famished after a grueling day of shopping. On being shown to our table, I was drooling at the prospects of all the delicacies and I was about to ram in my pie-hole. On selecting our meals the waitress took our orders which for my wife was painless, myself on the other hand was a different story I ordered to be told this was unavailable and the same for my 2nd, 3rd, and 4tc choices (I think they had looked at my cuddly exterior and thought he'd be better off at the salad bar ha) after compromising on an item of food the waitress moved into the kitchen. Another waitress approached letting me know my first choice was available although I would not receive the ribs I so wanted but I was just about to agree to this when Sheena my hero rushed from the kitchen to in a haze of white smoke and lights telling me she had been able to procure my lusted after ribs. Service continued to be amazing all night Sheena and Co worked tirelessly to make our meal special. WE'LL DONE

Breakfast let down

We visited for breakfast and had never been before so were looking forward to it. We were greeted by Sheena who was lovely and attentive. I opted for the eggs Mediterranean which were nice however definitely overpriced. My fiance went for the unlimited breakfast which should come with a disclaimer that certain items (I.e the black pudding) are the smallest servings you have ever seen. Essentially asking for 2 of everything except mushroom or tomato which should be loads still leaves the plate half full and £8 for just a breakfast (not including the juice or tea etc) you would expect much better. Also the signage says don't approach the salad bar/breakfast bar unless invited by your server. At no point were we asked if we wanted anything from there and by the looks of things nobody else was either as it remained unvisited by any customer during our entire visit. I felt safe with the social distancing however the female manager standing less than a metre away from another staff member on the bar with her mask under her chin in full view of customers was extremely unprofessional. It wasn't awful but I would much rather go elsewhere where you get much more for your money.

With regards to the pricing of our menu this is all done centrally and outwith our control. The unlimited breakfast items can be added to at any point and again in the sizing of these items can sometimes vary slightly. I do apologise that you were not offered a visit to the breakfast bar this should be something our team do automatically as it is inclusive of the price you pay regardless of what breakfast you choose. Let me also apologise for my own error in judgment with having my mask down from my nose and mouth. If this has caused any distress I cannot apologise enough and will be more mindful in future. Worst service!!!!

went for a family meal and it was an awful experience staff were too busy with how many people where coming in so we didn’t receive cutlery, received our food but my child didn’t receive their food till 20 mins later. Waitress was busy which I totally understand but just didn’t feel like they were very friendly and accommodating. Will not be going back just horrible experience.

Disappointing!

In a party of 18, for the 4th annual visit, surprised to observe that the Car Park was very quiet and the restaurant not busy. After studying the Menu for some time when the orders were being taken it was announced that there was no fish available and later when orders were being placed for desserts we were told that there was no ice cream! Really surprised at these absences. Extreme difficulty in obtaining glasses of fresh water and one of our party had to fetch them. Waiting staff pleasant but few of them. The organiser of our group spoke to the Duty Manageress who seemed quite disinterested in being given negative feedback. The food served was good so such a shame about the lack of choice, staff and interest.

Unfortunately, the ice cream machine broke down that day and going by our policy we are unable to buy ice cream from anywhere apart from a nominated supplier!! Sorry about that!!! As so for the fish - this was a popular dish on the day and we had run out again but this is something I will look at to make sure we have enough supply!! Birthday letdown

I usually go to the braehead harvester but it’s not taking bookings so opted for this one, Birthday treat for a friend, I ordered the ribs which were served dry no bbq sauce as they’re supposed to be, the cup with coleslaw lacked coleslaw, I believe a teaspoon was used to fill it, I asked the waitress if they were running out of coleslaw, she said no there’s plenty at the salad bar, that’s nice but it’s supposed to be on my plate, the side salad was dry as a desert, if you don’t put dressing on a a salad you shouldn’t serve it, my friends burger which he asked to have without cheese came with cheese, that was remedied quickly enough, now I know these are just peripheral complaints but to me it’s in the details that make a meal enjoyable. One other thing, I ordered vanilla cheese cake with cream, it was nice enough but it wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger, that was just taking the p**h. Standards please, standards.

Hi dmc1974 Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review of your visit. Unfortunately our Braehead branch is still currently closed at the moment. We are sorry to see you felt we have different standards from the branch in Braehead. All our ribs are coated with sauce whilst still on our grill. The slaw that comes on the side is just a small amount and the garnish on you plate is never and should not be dressed. With regards to the cheesecake which you say is not much bigger than a fish finger this comes in pre portioned and all Harvesters up and down the country receive the exact same product. If during any future visits you feel there is something wrong with your meals please do not hesitate to speak with a duty manager. Kind regards Ruth

Disappointing

My partner and I have just had lunch here. It was ok. I had a surf n turf and the steak was cooked exactly the way I like it. My partner enjoyed his chicken combo. For dessert my partner had the trio of mini desserts which were lovely but didn’t come with cream or ice cream which made them dry. I ordered a sundae and was disappointed. It came with the ice cream half melted and dripping from the glass. There was no fruit in it and the sauce was a cheap, sugary syrup. For £4.49 it was a disgrace. The ice cream was not even flavoured or scooped. Just a yellow mush. I wouldn’t return here.

I am afraid this is the spec for both those products - the dessert combo is served on its own and the ice cream only comes with a come and it is served out of our ice cream machine and the sauce is the sauce we are provided!! First dinner out since covid19

My wife and I went to the harvester, Hillington for our first dinner since covid 19 and it put all my wife's reservations at ease, hand sanitising and track and trace did at the door as soon as u came in. It was all table service for food and refill drinks. The salad bar was still open but u were escorted by ur waitor to the salad bar on a one way system. The waiter then puts ur salad bowl together with ur choices and then u head back to ur seat continuing on the one way system so it's only staff in contact with the salad bar. Tge food was lovely when ur arrived too and tge staff couldn't have been more helpful. Would highly recommend it.

Visited for a breakfast on the 12th August. Clearly very busy due to the 50% off incentive. Massive shout out to all the staff that were on before 11am and Melanie the manager. The food was served quick and was good however the staff were extremely busy, adjusting to the new ways of working and dealing with the most awkward family I have ever encountered yet remained professional and kept their smile. You guys are amazing. Will be back.

Stopped here for a quick lunch, was met by waiting staff who directed us to our seat, restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, the waitress came over explained the covid rules of the restaurant, took our drink orders and asked us if we wanted salad with our meal, we ordered our meal and proceeded to the salad bar where the waitress proceeded to fill up our bowls with our chosen salad. I didn’t think the menu looked that brilliant so I opted for the vegetarian halloumi cheese wrap with a portion of rice, my partner opted for the burger, my meal was inedible, the “grilled halloumi” was white, floppy and to my knowledge had t been near a grill, grilled halloumi is normally a lovely brown colour with a crispy texture on the outside and soft on the inside, the wrap was cold and stodgy, I tried a little bit but couldn’t face it, my partners burger was ok and he did eat the majority of it, as a footnote the waitress who served us had heavily nicotined fingers which was really off putting in a place serving food. An experience never want to repeat.

Booked a table for three. Over from belfast and treated or wee auntie. On arrival masks on and track and trace done. Taking to our seats and our server mags was just amazing. Very polite, friendly took us to pick our salads, rolls. Took the order when food came out it was delicious we really enjoyed it. Had gammon steak, eggs, chips Ribs, chicken combo Bbq chicken stack and we where stuffed chefs did a great job. Really loved flame grilled taste of the chicken. Very well done to all the team. When next over we are coming back again.

Exactly what you'd expect from a harvester

The food was all freshly prepared & very tasty, not much unavailable from the menu. The staff were all very friendly & helpful, even if the service was perhaps a bit slow (mostly I fancy that they appeared to be short staffed). All in all would have no problem visiting again in the future.

Me and my partner visited today for breakfast with no expectations due to many of the good sit in places being few and far between or no longer open. On entry we were greeted by Mary who took us to our table and served us for our duration of the visit. Mary was extremely attentive and had a great sense of humour. Mary ensured we had what we needed without being overbearing (many other places please take note of this.. This is a skill). The food served was excellent quality, good portion size and served warm, within a timeframe that fitted “cooked to order”. This reassured us that the food hadn’t been sitting under a heat lamp. In a lot of places you find that they are staffed by younger waiting staff who struggle to hide their absolute contempt for customers when being asked for anything, here this was not the case and our visit very much reflected a 10/10 experience for customer service. I will be returning very soon.

We visited for the first time after a recommendation from a family member. As many reviewers have mentioned they have bene very busy in the mornings when the government discount applies but they handled it extremely well. I was very pleased with the excellent customer service from both the manager and our waitress Sheena. The food was very good and set us up nicely for a busy day out at Loch Lomond. Thank you to the chef's who cooked and presented the food to a high standard.
