Kinara Indian restaurant King Street Glasgow. The long awaited opening of this restaurant was welcomed today as it was bank holiday Monday. Taking full advantage of the day off work my partner and I decided to book a lunch time slot at the kinara. Checking out the menu online beforehand, I was slightly apprehensive as the dishes are not your usual main stream Indian meals. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed with the manager who we are familiar with from the sister restaurant the Madras Cafe. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated to a high standard and it's airy and bright. The exciting part came next where we had the option of lunch menu which is £12.99 for 2 courses or the Ala carte menu which is full of culinary delights. We were pleasantly surprised with the arrival of our selection of small crackers, mango chutney and spiced onion and another little dish with spiced vegetables. Which was absolutely delightful. I ordered vegetable pakora ( not named pakora) and my partner had vegetable fritters. Both were fantastic and come with they own delicious dips. I oped for the chicken lahsun morich murgh. My partner had chicken Tikka meal called guntur Mirchi Tikka. Both dishes were nothing less than outstanding. So fresh and authentic tasting. It was definitely a culinary delight to eat here. The chef shabu is a legend and we have followed him within the restaurants he has worked at over the years. His food never fails to excite us. This place is a new Indian restaurant that will be a massive hit once the word gets out of how amazing the food is here. If your in Glasgow give this restaurant a try you will not be disappointed. 👌

Delicious food. Went for the lunch menu. Flavours were fine, plenty of choice and we only paid 13 pounds for a lunch consisting of forehead and head. It was well listened to that we did not want fresh coriander over it (this often goes wrong) definitely recommended!

Kinara is located within Glasgow's T103 Arts Centre in the site of the long-running Cafe Cossachok. It's wonderful to see the restaurant space in the building coming to life again after being vacant for around two years. Last night (26th April) was Kinara's first evening of regular operations and I happened to be around as I was running a music event upstairs in the Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery. After the show a few friends gathered to try the new place and we'll certainly be returning to Kinara. The menu is highly inventive, though it has to be said we were trying small dishes for sharing, post-show, so I look forward to sampling the lunch menu soon, which we're told will be a good two/three course deal. Service was spot on, the place has a welcoming atmosphere and it's associated with the much loved Madras Cafe in Glasgow, so the people behind Kinara are experienced pros who've put in plenty of work to get their new venue just right. As someone who is around T103 and the King Street area frequently, I've missed what used to be one of my favourite places to eat in this location. Kinara feels like it's going to be a new regular haunt - can't wait to be back there soon.

Terrible experience with this restaurant. I bought an itison voucher wanting to test out this restaurant, made a booking online successfully via their website. When communicated with the front of house staff regarding the voucher and booking, the communication was terrible on the phone leading to a misunderstanding, we arrived at the restaurant telling us we can't use the voucher today because they have limited bookings allowed for itison vouchers. I asked the staff how many tables do you have for itison customers because your restaurant is clearly almost empty right now, the staff had no clue and had to ask the manager. Supposedly only five tables allowed for Sundays when the reasturant only had three tables taken at the time (less than 15% of their capacity) . The restaurant was basically empty but they do not have the curtersy to accommodate their customers. We were asked to go with the other menu while who would want to spend money in a restaurant with zero customer service experience. BTW when I asked if they can provide two high chairs for my kids, they said they only have one. Again based on how empty the restaurant was, they are either not being honest or not having the capacity for people with young kids. So not a family friendly place. In summary, the restaurant has the following reasons that you should avoid: 1. Not friendly front of house staff 2. Bad communication and complicated booking system 3. No flexibility when dealing with customers 4. Not family friendly to cater people with young children

We enjoyed an itison lunch deal at this new Glasgow City centre restaurant. Located in King Street, just off Argyle Street and close to the Tron Theatre, it's very handy Kinrara is a bright airy restaurant with large windows looking on to King Street. The decor is colourful and looks really amazing. As vegetarians we were delighted to note that the special lunch menu included a good choice of vegetarian/vegan options. Service was courteous, swift and efficient. Staff were polite and helpful offering further information on our choices such as spiciness etc. The dishes arrived as generous portions and were really tasty and well presented. This was a fantastic lunch which we really enjoyed and the itison deal was a great way to introduce us to a new city centre dining experience.

We visited here last minute on a Saturday based on it being number one on TA. The woman who served us was so rude and uninterested. We ordered from the set menu and I had asked if they could replace chicken with veg for their creamy sauce dish. I was simply and abruptly told no. My husband ordered the chicken version and said it was tasteless. I then ordered one of their two vegetarian dishes as I am not a fan of Dahl. The meal was just ok. My started was hummous which was ok but not worth the £. Wish we had went elsewhere.

Really friendly staff and delicious food. The interior is quite pleasant and upscale. The restaurant is a great option for any occasion but especially for a celebration as it feels more luxurious. The food is one of the best Indian you can get in the city and is good value for the price. My only suggestion to the staff is to check more often on big tables as we have gone twice and turnaround on orders was a bit slower than I would like. Other than that the place is pretty much perfect.

AVOID!!!! I had a terrible experience at Kinara restaurant last night. I went with my friend and 2 kids. We had an itison voucher and were entitled to 4x drinks and asked for 2 white wines & 2 rose wines. Me and my friend were given 2 wines each at the same time which I found a bit odd considering wine is chilled and the other would be room temperature by the time one had been drunk. When I asked if I could have 1 of our wines back in the fridge until we were ready a women named ‘savannah’ was rude to me and made me feel uncomfortable as if I was asking a stupid question. We then seen savannah and the other waitress coming towards us to serve us our food, they dropped a piece of our nan on the floor, picked it up and placed it on top of our fresh nan. I was in absolute shock how they thought this was acceptable. They denied what happened and offered a fresh nan which we rejected. I was paranoid to eat the rest of my dinner to think how uncleanly the restaurant is if this is what they were doing in front of people. I will never return to this restaurant. We had already purchased the voucher and had an outstanding bill of £40, they wanted to charge full price until we mentioned that we should be getting something off as our meal and whole experience was ruined. After a lot of back and forth they finally gave us 20% off the bill which I still find shocking considering the voucher was already paid and redeemed. None of the staff could tell me the managers name and mentioned that they were all new. I am livid and will never get over this experience and would like to take this further one way or another, if the manager can contact me that would be appreciated. My email to contact - jayeberry@icloud.com AVOID!!!

Fabulous food and service at this little gem of a place. This will be my 4th time this year so they are definitely doing something right! It was an itison deal £35 for 2 courses and 2 small beers or wine. Hubby opted for the chicken starter, chicken porichathu which was similar to chicken pakora but a lot lighter and more delicious, the sauce was delicious as were the other trimmings. I opted for the chicken wings which were really delicious 😋. I had the butter chicken and hubby had the seyal chicken dish with coconut milk. Naan bread was probably best we have tasted and nice and light and crispy and the basmati rice was excellent. Would highly recommend this place, the staff have never let it slip since it opened, and the food is always of the same high standard A female server stood out for us today as she really did excel and never let us down once. Ambience is instant in this restaurant. Ambience. 10 Food. 10 Service. 10 Value. 10

Had wanted to try this as Cafe Madras is excellent and this is their new venture. To say it was appalling is an understatement. Food was generally overcooked. The seafood kari well it was almost a bag of supermarket mixed seafood with some curry sauce. We complained and the maitre de went out of his way to apologise. Didn’t charge for that particular dish. Wouldn’t go back.

A lovely new restaurant from the Madras Cafe family. We have been to the Madras Cafe frequently and found the food there to be excellent so we thought that we would give Kinara a try. We were not disappointed. Both my wife and I had succulent lamb dishes. The meat was of the highest quality and they were both delicious. The staff were very welcoming and, on finding out that this was our first visit gave us a very generous discount. A lovely gesture which was very much appreciated. Thoroughly recommended.

First time eating in Kinara. We regularly ate in the iconic Russian cafe before it closed, Kinara owners have done a great job decorating the restaurant, the decor is very stylish. We had an itison voucher, the set menu was limited, only 4 starters and 6 mains to choose from, however all options sounded nice. I had the vegetable patties which were nice. My wife had chicken pakora. Both came with the same dip which was a bit too spicy for us. For main we ordered butter paneer and lentil dal and we shared. Both meals were lovely Basmati rice booked well. Busy restaurant, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Has the feel of a family run restaurant, not sure if it is though. Would recommend coming and would return to try other dishes on their extensive al a carte menu.

First visit to Kinara for dinner and will not be the last. We had a voucher for 2 courses and drink each with a decent variety of dishes to choose from. The main menu offers a huge choice and I definitely plan to return. Food was excellent with good sized portions and service was impeccable. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated making it a comfortable, pleasant environment. Very pleased to have found this lovely place.

Visited here with my partner and son for Father’s Day with the itison deal - 2 x courses with drinks for £24. We were all really impressed with the food, it was made fresh and just tasted delicious and the portions were a great size. We asked if there was a kids menu and our server told us he could do a smaller chicken korma and chips or chicken nuggets and chips which was great. My son had the korma and chips and ate every bit of it. Service was great also. I was recommended to try here by a friend and I’m so glad we tried it as we’d definitely return and have also recommended to others too.
