My daughter and I booked our evening meal for Saturday 27th at 7.45. When we arrived we were quickly shown to our seat and the waiter poured us a craft lemonade. We ordered out drinks and when the bottle of wine came it was put...on the table with the corkscrew beside it. We thought that the waitress was coming back with our glasses of water and she would open the bottle then. I had to ask three times for water and in the end the man at the next table opened our wine for us, as the waitress never came back to open it. We asked for garlic mushrooms to be told they had no mushrooms so we both asked for bruschetta which was really really cold not just fresh. We waited for a long time for our mains and my pasta came without chicken which I had ordered. I said this to the waiter and he took away my plate, only to come back with the same plate with cold, dry diced chicken on top of the pasta. I took a couple of mouthfuls but it was inedible. I called a waiter over and said I couldn’t eat it and my daughter’s pasta was very watery so he took away both meals and we got the bill. The price of my pasta was deducted from the bill. We were so disappointed. We were down from Aberdeen on a shopping weekend and our Saturday night was ruined.More

We went in last night at 6pm, restaurant was busy. Left standing for 10 mins , got seated, took drinks orders quickly as we had a show to go to at 7.30..waited 30 mons for drinks and 55 mins for a pizza, which was barely...lukewarm. We asked for it to be heated for a few minutes in the pizza oven and said we were short on time. Waiter took it away, had to ask for it ten minutes later, it was brought back...and stone cold! Hadn't been near an oven. Told staff we had to leave for the show and asked for the bill ( we had had a coke, glass of wine & bottle of beer). Staff came back with the bill, saying g as a goodwill gesture they had "taken off all the food"!! What food? We left and will never return. Shambolic service. One hour and twenty minutes and went to our concert starving.More

I really like the surroundings of this restaurant. It's bright., modern, clean, airy & spacious. The food is good....not excellent but good. Staff were lovely. Be aware that service does tend to be a bit slow. This wasn't a problem for us as we were...happy to have a relaxing lunch. The Mushrooms Al Forno were delicious, as was the Profiterole Grande. Linguine Carbonara was nice but definitely needed seasoning. We never felt rushed although the restaurant was busy.More

Popped in for a pizza, coffee and beer while waiting for my bus at the adjacent bus station. Modern style restaurant, looked clean and newish. Service was good enough as was the food - pizza a bit underwhelming but the cold Peroni made up (a...bit steep at £4.50 for 33cl) and the coffee latte lived up to my expectations. Overall a bit soulless and underwhelming but it fixed my belly for the journey to come.More

Restaurant half full but still took 55 minutes for a pizza. This was due to the constant stream of delivery drivers collecting. Seems sitting in customers low priority which is a shame as the food was excellent but the overall experience poor.

After having visited this restaurant a few years ago, I was thoroughly looking forward to returning to Ask Italian to experience the same excellent service and food I had received a few years previous. However, I can only describe it as an awful experience. All...started well and we were taken to our seats at the slot we had pre-booked online, although when looking to order some drinks from the menu we discovered that there was only one Rose Wine option available. The option available was not one any of us had previously heard of so our table requested to try the wine before we placed an order for the bottle. This request was granted and 3 small glasses of the wine were delivered to the table for us to try. Upon trying the wine we all simultaneously agreed that it was not to our liking. We then requested to order 3 Cointreau and Lemonades which the gentleman working in the restaurant informed us that they did not have. So my auntie stated in a light hearted way that "we are not doing very well here" to which we all laughed however the waiter did not take it that way and went on to say "well its not my fault you didn't like the wine" and stated that "He liked the wine and didn't see an issue with it" in an exceptionally cheeky tone. Everyone at the table was shocked as he then went on to try and have an argument with my auntie stating multiple times that it was not his fault even though no one was suggesting it was. This left us all feeling rather startled as no one had directly blamed him for the situation, We were only trying to order a drink to our liking, which proved a challenge due to the extremely poor selection of drinks available. Although it is no one in the restaurant's fault that we did not like the wine, it is the fault of the restaurant that there is only 1 Rose wine option to choose from unlike the white wine selection which had multiple different options. The whole situation that had just unfolded made us feel extremely uncomfortable and in fact want to leave the restaurant but, due to time commitments we did not have time to go and find anywhere else and risk not getting in due to it being fully booked. Moving on, we ordered our food and choose to order 2 Pollo Della Casas which was the name the dish was called on the menu. After waiting a reasonable amount of time a waitress approached our table stating that she has 2 chicken and mushroom pasta bakes to which we replied that we had not ordered because we did not think that this was our food. However looking back at the menu and after studying the ingredients of the dish we had ordered we realised that she had not said the correct name for it (hence the confusion) and told another waitress that we thought that was our food. This lead to the original waitress bringing the food back out of the kitchen and over to the table stating again a pasta bake and upon questioning if it was the Pollo Della Casa she replied yes. My mother politely explained and apologised to her saying " Sorry I was just a bit confused because you didn't say the name of the dish I had ordered on the menu but when I looked again at the ingredients that is the right dish" to which she received the most horrific glare from the women who simply walked away and continued to stare and said nothing. I can quite honesty say I am absolutely disgusted to have even stepped foot in Ask Italian on Sunday night and to have received such a poor quality of customer service. Judging by the other reviews on here, it looks as though a few others have been let down by the service provided as well. The food was actually quite nice but not amazing however, I most definitely would NOT return or recommend this restaurant to anyone and actually feel quite embarrassed for suggesting to my family to go there. Instead I would tell people to stay away from Ask Italian. I am saddened that my experince this time round was not up to the amazing standard I received previouslyMore

We went in at 430pm. 30 minutes before they took our drinks order. Then a further 15 minutes until our meal order. We had starter and main course with 2 drinks. It took 2.5 hours. Food was cold by the time it came to us....We requested macaroni for 1 child with a side of broccoli the macaroni came but the brocoli came when we had all finished. I will not be going againMore

We are loyal Ask Italian customers and had family visiting this weekend so we booked for 4:30 pm to allow plenty of time before heading to events (at 7:30 pm). The service was shockingly slow! It took almost 20 mins to get our drinks and...the restaurant was basically empty besides us. After waiting an hour and a half, we asked about our mains because we had events to attend and got a rude response. The food finally arrived and it was all either the wrong order or cold. The kids’ side arrived with their ice cream desert after they had eaten their pasta, which is just ridiculous. We didn’t get any apology and paid a fairly large bill for 8 people. We used to love Ask Italian but won’t bother going again. Disappointing.More
