We often pop-in here for a nice lunch bite, but it can get busy over the main lunch time. Not simple to get to without a vehicle, but with one it is only 5 minutes or so from the centre of Mearns. The food is always top quality and delicious. Not exactly cheap, but not expensive either. Try and get... More

We have visited this garden centre quite a few times and the food and service are great. However this time I chose the Cullen skink, it has to be the best I've ever tasted. Absolutely delicious. Another great visit and we'll be back

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit. I am sorry for the misunderstanding, but the £4 'Coffee and Pancake' deal and the ‘Stack of Pancakes’ are two different things. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to ask your server, or indeed give me a call. Best wishes More

This restaurant situated a short distance from Mearns Cross is part of the Caulders chain but the location is spot on with fantastic views. The food is superb and the staff are friendly and efficient. I would thoroughly recommend this venue. Have a look at the wide variety of plants available after your meal.

Love lunching here. Combo lunch is my favourite, homemade soup and sandwich with lovely chutneys. Coffee and great cakes, the meringues and strawberry tarts are enormous. Service is fast and friendly. The Afternoon Tea looks great, need to try it sometime. Then there's a nice browse afterwards: outside for plants & gardening items or in the gift shop.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent visit. I would certainly recommend trying the Afternoon Tea on your next visit - you won't be disappointed and we will have lots of lovely new stock arriving as spring draws near so it's always worth a wee browse afterwards to walk of some of those calories!!... I think we've been here about 5 or 6 times now and every time it's wonderful! The staff are so nice and the food is great. The minor blip would be perhaps giving an extra teabag with the pots of tea as the brand used makes a weak cup of tea but other than that it's fantastic.

Thank you for your lovely review - I am so glad that you enjoy our 'Old Fashioned' Afternoon Tea! If you do find your tea a little on the weak side for your liking, please ask your server for assistance - tea is such a personal preference, as I know from years of trying to get it 'just right' for... Have visited Caulders, on few occasions, and have always found the service and food, excellent. Had the soup and sandwich deal, and the carrot and coriander soup, soooo lovely, and the turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich, just perfect. With friendly service, reasonable prices, will defiantly be back.

Description
Like their two previous centres, Colin and Mandy chose a fabulous site to build their next garden centre. Located out in the country, but only a small 5 minute drive from Mearns Cross and a 7 minute drive from East Kilbride, Caulders Braidbar provides the peace and tranquility of the open countryside however has the convenience of being close to Glasgow and easily accessable. Caulders Braidbar follows in the same ethos of both Mugdock & Kirkintilloch and has its foundations as supplying great plants and garden products. Together with fabulous catering offering great food. The views from The Garden House Restaurant at Braidbar look spectacularly over Glasgow, onto the Campsies and beyond. The gift shop at Braidbar is placed with great and unusual gift ideas and the garden centre is always stocked with a fantastic range of plants. As you wander through the plant sales area you will notice that the garden centre has been built around the historic Gowkstone. This stone is thought to date back to the iron ages, the name comes from the Scotts word Gowk which means cuckcoo. The Gowkstone was a meeting place for the covenants in the 1600's and later was thought to be a special place with special powers - we still believe it is a special place!!!
